I've just told my girlfriend, that I will change gearbox on my girlfriend's £500 fiat on my own just using 2 tonne jack and bricks to hold engine up... :D

Hiya This is my first post, so please gentle with me. Im sorting out a 1993? (n reg) punto 55 SX, Gearbox has blown up, and took out a diff. :bang:

I dont have hayes manual for punto.

Will i expect any damage on crankshaft? (where clutch and gearbox goes on)

Do i need to bleed the Hydraulic system on gearbox when i installed new gearbox ? or

can i unbolt hydraulic and move it to one side and retain all it fluid?

Do I need to remove the left front suspesion? (unbolt from top suspesion tower and lower wishbone)

Will anything from suspesion fell apart when i remove it? or are they in all "1 piece"?

Anything else I should know when removing/installing gearbox?

Do i really need to invest in a swear box while doing this job? :D

I am sure i can manage without hayes manual. after all its all threads and nuts :p

Yeah now do you just pull the driveshafts or do they have a hidden clip? I know! Let me look in the Haynes (y) Take good advice, get a manual. And change the clutch (unless its very new) while you are under there. The gearbox is quite straightforward if messy and time consuming
