Hi guys im new and in need of some real help here.

Okay i have a x reg fiat punto mk2 done 28k miles. Last month i had to have the cooling system replaced due to it overheating and the cooling fan not kicking in. I then had it replaced brand new.

2 weeks after i was stuck in traffic after work. car overheated so took it back, they reconed it was now the head gasket.

New head gasket put in costing 426 squid and i just got it back tonight. Car feels so sluggish but they said take it easy for 500 miles so i thought must just drive it in a bit. Well stopped at home and decided to see if the cooling fan works. left the car idleing and well it started to overheat so my original problem has not gone away.

The company wh fixed my car are very large and the same place i bought my car from. (HP Car)

My car feels sluggish and is missing somthing, it drives but the power seems to come and go.

Now does anyone know why my cooling fan wont kick in.please guys if i needed help, now is the time

I will give em some grief tomorrow but i need some back up if you know what i mean

hi there not exactly sure what you mean buy had the coolant system replaced? do you mean just the coolant liquid or an actual part?

if the fan wont kick in it could be several things, the actual fan sensor, the thermostat not letting radiator water round engine thus not setting the fan sensor off as norammly the fan sensor is in the radiator.


also i had a blocked radiator core once as a result of a blown headgasjet letting oil into teh coolant, this gunged up inside of my radiator soo water wasnt passing through.

also i never heard of having to run in after a head gasket fix before

Enjine starts okay but idles funny, If i rev the car it revs but thencomes down to around 2500 and sits there for 3 secs then drops down to 850-900.

the company is called Inchacape Retail, used to be called wadden kenning of shrewsbury, shropshire. I bought my car there and they are the fiat dealer for the area.

No white mayo in oil cap or top of oil, just so watery it runs of dipstick.

i got my car from inchcape direct must be same company but this was a car supermarket.

seems like you have had a lot replaced allready then. you had a over heating problem and they diagnosed something wich dint fix it so surely its up to them seems like they are guessing at the problem. wich is costing you money

Take it back, say it wasn't the head gasket and you want the money back for that! tell them they have not replaced something propley when they done the gasket and its causing the car not to run propley, and say they either never fitted a new fan or fitted it incorectly, or they fitted a faulty one.

thefishdude: just checked and it is inchcape direct. Must be one of there branches, they have 3 if im right and they also go on about having 6000 cars in stock

i checked this morning and the water has gone down after driving 14 miles. also there seems to be leaking from the head and the block


took it to another garage and they said they cant really tell me what it is but from what ive told them they said the head is prolly still not right.

yep go back if head still aint sorted its there problem. i got my car from inchcape last year they were great till i bought it lol then they became unhelpfull with any problems i had. i also bought an extended warranty from them. and have just found out that the warratny compant they use went into recievership 2 months ago soo i got to phone em up and see if someone is taking it over or i have lost out if so im gonna go and moan at inchcape want refund

sam m8 i also took out extra warrenty and the comapny went bust and they are in adminstrarion. think they are called warrently holdint ltd

well the picked up my car today and gave me another to use, just have to wait and see

yeah thats right warranty holdings sooo what happening with you ?? do you know if the warranty is being honoured by someone else??? have you phoned up about yours i was going to do mine this weekend if its not being honoured then i think inchcape should refund me some money as i bought it from them for 2 years and they went tits up after 1 year

I have a exrended warranty with warranty holding and had my head gasket replaced recently. Garage delt with all the claims for me. They are still honoring the warrantys as they are actuall underwritten by on of the big insurance companys.

I searched and got more info of the web. Warranty holding is/was a parent company of FORD. so dont worry mine was all paid for by warranty company

hi there guys sorry to interupt but i have a major problem with my punto my car is over heating over maximum evry time i use it so i had th head gasket skimmed and replaced but a week l8r i still have the same problem so i took it back to the garage and they took out my thermostat but yet agen i still have this problem but now iam loosing water but dont no where its goin yeasterday i put 2 litres of water in the radiator but also my fan kicks in as soon as i start th car so i have taken my car back to the garage but he says its deffo not th ead gasket and there isnt a blockage but i need to change my radiator cap can ne 1 tell me if this is th problem plz

Hi welcome to the forum degg
Radiator caps do go sometimes but its more likley they have not used new bolts when they did the head gasket.
also check your heater matrix is not leaking,
