hi all.. just swapped a gear leaver (box) and linkage as i had a snapped cable, was cheaper to buy a whole used assembly.

I've managed to change it all over but now the gear stick won't centre its off to the left instead of the neutral position...

i notice there a thread at the gear box end of the cable i think i need to adjust the length of the cable to align the stick...

can any one give me some advise on this??

I have just taken a look at my Evo Sporting and all I can see is a thread adjustment one the side to side cable (at the gearbox end). Mine is off to the left side when centred so I am going to try a few turns of adjustment myself (trial and error on tightening or loosening), I don't see it being anything else so give that a try.

Hopefully someone will know for sure but that's what I am going to do on mine.

There is little to no adjustment at the gearbox end, I was unable to centre mine either. It selects all gears ok so I will just live with it unless someone knows how to do this as per the original posters question.

I worked it out... on one of the linkages cables @ the gearbox end there's a button with a spring.. if you press in the button this allows the head of the linkage to move/adjust slightly... so this is where the adjustment takes place..

i'll try and upload a picture later...

That's what my Grande Punto was like and yes that's way easier to adjust so glad you got it sorted. Now if only mine was the same...

its not fully sorted got a check engine light now... read the code and is p181d...

Side to side linkage cable not positioned correctly - gear stick sits to right of centre ........

I have a similar problem with this very cable - the one with the spring loaded adjuster. But my problem is with the linkage that this connects to. This L bracket is toothed (goes only one way) but its angled towards the engine (view from N/S/F wing - result is I cannot engage 5th or reverse.
I had the box out to replace the clutch and disconnected this L bracket as it was easier than the knuckle joint and appears it goes back easy but can this linkage move ? i have had in off and back on but cannot get the correct position. Without the cable this linkage arm is spring loaded from right to left . Very frustrated :) so without the cable connected it seems its in the WRONG position - any ideas much appreciated
