Hi,

The Punto is 6 years old this year (second year with me), what sort of service should I treat it to?
- oil, plugs, filters,
- timing belt + water pump,
- brake fluid change,
- coolant?

Any comments or other suggestions?

Cheers

Depends on the service history really.

Oil, filter and plugs should really be changed on each service, coolant will done when the timing belt and water pump are done (if not already changed).

Brake fluid should be changed if it hasn't previously. A once over on the brakes should highlight any problems too. Possibly gearbox oil, plus a general inspection of the car.

Depending on what you have done be sure to shop around if going to a garage, but if your handy the majority of the above you could do yourself.

Service history is more or less non existant (bought the car 2 years ago with 2 stamps in the book). I've treated it to oil/plug/filter changes since buying it, but given it's age I'd like to do more.

Thanks for the reply, looks like I'm on the right track. (y)

If the history is unknown, certainly do the timing belt, coolant pump, and a proper coolant flush, also check the thermostat.
Better safe than sorry!

Brake fluid can be checked, I'd do the transmission oil as well, as I believe in "no service needed" as much as I believe in 20+k km service intervals: NOT!
