Hi Sorry to bother but my orange engine light came on this morning...it has gone off now but the engine is running very rough, seems not to have any power and I need to put my foot down quite a bit... Any suggestions - it is a Punto Evo 2011 (61 plate) and was serviced last October and done 41000 miles...thanks in advance

If its a multiair engine it probably sounds like the multiair unit has failed.

cut and paste you current info here, ;)
did the mechanic actually get compression figures for the 4 cylinders..??,

I'm not too familiar with the actual issues with Multiair failure.., BUT it MAY be essentially "stuck-open" giving little compression - but normally Oil in cylinder is ONLY through bore to oil control ring clearance issues..,

use SEARCH for multiair failure threads,

Charlie

No idea on the figures .. he just phoned and said there was a compression problem in cylinder 4 .. then said when he took the plug out it was oily and then, I'm guessing took the rocker cover off... if cars still have them... and said there was oil in the cylinder, fingers crossed its not as bad as first thought .. might get it fixed and move it on

to get a "proper" look in cylinder would be a head-off.., BUT could use a camera down plug hole..,

could well be a failed piston ring..,
still not a cheap - job due to work involved, :(

Well after a few days, the guy was busy, I've been told my MultiAir unit is in bits .... so a new one is ordered and being fitted ..fingers crossed I get it back Tuesday. I'll be giving Fiat a call and talking about things being 'fit for purpose' and see if I can get something back from them.
