I take it your car is a diese? Has it got a DPF & EGR fitted? EGR valves clog up really easily & can push the fumes back into the cab, or if the DPF is clogged it has the same effect.

Hi all
thank for getting back to me I will try the pollen filter as it is a cheap fix will use the Carbon filter as well but don't thing that this will fix it.
I tend to think DPF or EGR valves clogged
and Yes it is a diesel

Could be the DPF I bet its been run on supermarket diesel from new have been told this kills DPF Car is under Warranty so will see what they say

have had 68.8 miles to the gallon so far so it not all bad

Am luckey as I have a master merchanic who worked for fiat for 14 years if no joy with the Garage will let him have a look

My entire reasons for buying a petrol car now are DPF related! If you're not doing motorway miles daily it causes all kinds of grief. The only thing to try before spending any money is this:
Fill up (at least 3/4), then take a blast down the motorway, over 3,000 revs minimum for at least 20 minutes, then turn at the next exit & do the same coming back. If you have a soot build up, that'll cure it. I had to do this with my Mazda 6 but for most of the 100 mile round journey I was in 3rd or 4th, as high revs in 6th was a very naughty speed!
