As the title says, my evo seems to be going through a lot of oil...

  • Had an oil change at 28k, (don't know how much was put in as was done by the monkeys who work at the car people when I bought it)

  • Previous top up was at 36k (as it was at the bottom of the dipstick) Filled it full.

  • It's now at 41k and it's already used 2/3 of the oil
Is this normal? Bought it in March and It's due a full service anyway - last full service was at 21k 2 years ago.

Any recommendations for servicing? Live in Wakefield, work in Sheffield so anywhere around or inbetween would be good :)

Thanks Guys!

Hi,

Which engine precisely ?

Which oil do you put in ?

What kind of ride do you do ? Long or many short trips ?

I assume you have no oil leak :)

It's the 1.4 8v 77PS version

Castrol edge 5W-30 fully Synthetic if i remember correctly, could be wrong though

I do about 70 miles a day, of which about 50 of those are on a motorway doing 70-80ish mph :p

Well, i hope not anyway! But i haven't noticed any oil on the floor after the car has been stood for a while.

I have same engine as you ! I do a majority of small trips to work ( <10 km) and after 15'000km oil level still upper than middle.

This engine is know for reliability and is not affected by oil consumption (other engine, for exemple the 1.8l 16V VFD has this kind of problem).
To be precise, this make you how many l/km (or liter/miles) ?
