Punto Evo problem with gear change :(

Hi everybody,
I'm having issues with my Fiat Punto Evo Multiair. It's a 2010 plate, and to keep it short when I change gear, upon releasing the clutch and pressing the acceleration pedal there is no power even if the accelerator is pressed to the floor. This only lasts for 5-10 seconds and the car does not switch off just has no power! This does not happen every gear change but maybe once every 30 gear change approx. also happens on different gear changes, 2nd, 3rd, 4th, 5th...
Please help me with this issues.
Much appreciated thanks for reading.

Re: Punto Evo problem with gear change :(

May be your clutch switch is the problem (the start stop system) It is not expensive and easy job to replace.

Thats not a clutch switch issue...

When you are at speed (Say 50mph/80Kmh) and press the clutch pedal, does the engine die? If so, it could be you're needing the inertia switch reset. However that seems strange that I would only do it when the clutch is pressed.

Yes, my mistake. How ever it might because of the system - may be the speed sensor is not working properly, and when the clutch switch works it misfire the engine. May be a look into the OBD log will help?

It could possibly tell you whether the throttle being pressed is being detected by the ECU. It sounds as if its a software issue to me.

Re: Punto Evo problem with gear change :(

Thank you guys, sorry for the late reply. First at the speed of 50mph when the clutch is pressed the engine does not cut out. The engine goes silent once the clutch is released and acceleration applied, and also instead of waiting for the engine to start driving again, it works if you release the acceleration pedal and apply it again, or apply the clutch and try again. I'm starting to think that it is a system fault and need to get the car on a system scan.

It's difficult to explain but I will now make a small clip of what exactly happens,

Re: Punto Evo problem with gear change :(

Hmm.... seems like an issue with software more than anything. It appears to require a double clutch for power? Very unusual.

So what happens if you have selected 2nd gear but the clutch is still depressed and you press the accellerator? Does it rev? If it doesn't, it could be the start/stop system giving a little bother (Neutral Switch and clutch switch playing up together)

Also, what happens if you say, select 2nd, lift the clutch all the way and then press the accellerator?

Re: Punto Evo problem with gear change :(

Yes it does still rev. With regards to your second question, every time the clutch is lifted, and accelerator applied that the problem occurs. I have also noticed it happens when the car is cold more often than after driving for a while. Maybe the weather plays a role.

Is there a way to completely switch the start-stop system off? And what do you think is the best way to approach the problem? Through Fiat or is it possible to do it through an independent garage?

Re: Punto Evo problem with gear change :(

You can't completely remove start/stop as its there to meet a certain emission target. (Euro 6?). The only way to turn it off is by pressing the button on the dash.

Also, Fiat will probably be your best bet. The can contact Fiat direct to try and find the fault. However, its strange that you are the only one with that problem on here.
