Lightbulb Engine fell out.

The engine of my 2010 reg Fiat Punto Evo (11 months old) fell out of the car as the bolts holding had snapped. I was told this is a fault and they will fix the car. I am adament I do not want this car back as it clearly was a health risk. Has anyone else ever had this "fault"?

Re: Engine fell out.

that is shocking, thats what you expect from a 20yo banger, not a new car. if they knew about it why didn't they sort it out before it fell out. i would try and tell them thats its not on. maybe you will get something out of it

Re: Engine fell out.

my advice is contact fiat direct.
say you refuse to take the car back and will be contacting VOSA.

this needs checking by the authorites to check it isnt a common occurance which could endanger lives.

i work in the trade and know this will not go down lightly in any dealer.

refuse to take it back until it has been checked.

Re: Engine fell out.

The engine.... fell out?!

.... if that happened to mine, they can certainly stuff it.

But I can't see how its possible unless the bolts are the size of toothpicks and made out of tin....

however, just encase.., what kind of rights do we have with a new car after the "new" smell has faded? mines over a year old now, I assume the only right I'd have if such a thing happened would be to accept repair & drive it to the nearest none-fiat dealership to trade it in?

Re: Engine fell out.

Could you smash an engine out by hitting the sump on lots of speedbumps, kerbs, hibernating turtles etc?....

Re: Engine fell out.

I'd put money on it being a failed engine mount causing noise banging etc & a bit of poetic licence... if this happened a lot to the magnitude claime by the OP I'm sure the Fiat guys on here would have heard all about it...

Re: Engine fell out.

I agree with that, something has come loose or broken. Engines dont just "fall out"

Re: Engine fell out.

We had a 53 plate 1.2 Punto and had the same problem last year. There was a lot of banging and we went through two exhausts before the problem was revealed. Thankfully, we noticed it before it snapped its last bolt!

We put it down to enthusiastic driving over fell roads on the way to and from work. And the fact the car was on its last legs.

And thats fine on an old car, shouldnt happen on a new one but maybe the car was built on a bad day for Luigi & he never tightened the bolts up...

Re: Engine fell out.

My Stilo beeped at me last week & said 'Check Engine'. However when i looked the engine was still there. Did the Evo not say this prior to parting with its engine?
