Just got my Punto evo and the stop start is switched on but driving it for about a week now it hasnt once stop and started is it broke?

There's a post earlier in this forum by Ransoman, Stop/Start How long does it stay on?

Your question may be answered if you read that.

My suggestion is that if as you say the stop/stop is switched on, then it is quite possible you battery doesn't have sufficient charge.

I know it sounds silly, but you are asking it to work by stopping, putting on the handbrake, engaging neutral and lifting your foot off of the clutch?

took mine about 100-200 miles before it started working there is a learning curve as the computer learns what a "healthy" battery looks like its all in the owners handbook

NO ENGINE CUT-OUT
CONDITIONS
With the device activated, for reasons of comfort, limiting
emissions and safety, the engine does not stop in certain
conditions, including:
❒ engine still cold;
❒ particularly cold external temperatures, where the appropriate
indication is provided;
❒ battery not sufficiently charged;
❒ heated rear windscreen activated;
❒ windscreen wipers working at maximum speed;
❒ diesel particulate filter (DPF) regeneration ongoing (for
versions/markets where provided);
❒ driver’s door not shut;
❒ driver’s seat belt not fastened;
❒ reverse gear engaged (for example, during parking manoeuvres);
❒ automatic climate control, if a comfortable temperature
has not yet been reached or MAX – DEF function enabled;
❒ during the first period of use, to initialize the system.
In the above cases, an information message appears on the
display and (for versions/markets where provided) the warning
light fig. 118 will flash on the instrument panel.

Thanks well i have only done about 180 miles so i shall keep and eye on it

My brand new Evo 's Stop and start wouldn't work form day one either. i phoned the dealer to tell them and they said to wait 4-500 miles, i didn't think this sounded right as the 500 i had worked from the 1st 5 miles. anyway after 600 miles and still no joy Fiat had it in for a day and changed the battery and played with the "brains " of it and it has woarked ever since.
Before it worked i was averaging 36 MPG on urban journeys, now it's up to 39.8. still not what i expected , hope it gets better

mines always worked from 0miles. and stops for aslong as im at the lights for, sometimes upto 60seconds maybe more. i can pull up on the drive and it stays off for well over a minute.

Mine's behaving exactly the same as tom555tom's.

I was at a railway crossing the other morning, which is notorious for long waits, after about 3 minutes, the car startled me as it fired the engine back up.

Mine seems to decide if it wants to bother.

It will go ages not S&Sing and then when i think ah ****** its not happening all of a sudden ill get a little glimpse of the feature once or twice.

To be fair the lights i travel through do seem to change so i hold the clutch so maybe its 'learning' my lack of needing the feature?

will stop properly like one of the earlier posts (for a day or 2)and see if it happens!

Mine works as I think its meant to. I also starts itself! Various lengths of time from stop til it starts itself.

Any suggestions?

I was picking my son up, from his girlfriends house. Parked up, and it "stopped".

Her dad came out for a blether whilst I was waiting for my son.

We'd been chatting for a few mnutes when my son came out. Just as he opened the car door the car started itself. Her dad, must have thought I wanted away and quickly says "Bye then".

I felt so rude.
