General Punto Evo - Check List

Well my car is coming up for the 1 year old mark now and unfortunately one of my side rubbing strips has just had to be replaced (thankfully under warranty).
I guess Fiats crappy glue strikes again! :bang:

I have got

Crackling noise/ miss fire on cold start

bouts of missfire when warm

fuel smell in cabin

smoke from exhaust (unburnt diesel)

Fuel MPG 42mpg (from 1.3 mjet over 8000 miles)

Rear lamps full of water

centre pocket knackered

writing rubbing off side rubbing strips

dents on tailgate(from dealer and AA pushing it)

Fiat wont help , fianance company FGA wont help even after they
sent an independent engineer who confirmed the above.

If you dont want 6 months of hell Dont buy a FIAT!!!!

Now following up ombudsman trading standards are involved and may have to go to Court to resolve this and all for £15000 6 month old car.

Same, i had one on the driver door replaced 2 weeks ago.

And for the guy above, what the ... not sure how to reply to that!

Just thought I’d let everyone else know s they can check their Evos, I have come across a slight issues with my mine.
I noticed that the rubber that runs vertically down the side of the rear quarter window (I have the 3 door) catches at the top of the door as you open and close the door, causing a tear on the drivers side and slight wear on the passenger side.
I reported this to the dealership who said that the rubbers would be replaced under warranty, I later got a phone call from the dealership saying that the rubbers are part of the windows therefore they are now replacing both rear quarter windows under warranty.
Firstly I have to give credit where credits due and say that for once my local dealership have been very good in dealing with the situation.:D
What I find ridicules is the design which means the whole window needs replacing simply because of the rubber seal… crazy!:nutter:

Got my brand new Fiat Punto evo GP 3dr 1.4 multiair at the end of March. It is now 7 weeks old.

After washing the car for the first time when it was 5 weeks old I noticed that the passenger side rubbing strip was coming off. Took back to the dealer who were very helpfull. They have ordered new side rubbing strips for both sides of the car. Even though the drivers side wasn't coming off.

I have just returned from a long weekend in France in which I travelled about 800 miles on the motorway. My drivers side rubbing strip has now started to come off and the passenger one I had to take off because it came off so far it was flapping around and I was frightened it could come off causing an accident or injury to someone.

Now I have no protection on the passenger side door which is really annoying. If I get a dink in the door now I am gonna hold Fiat completely responsible because afterall isn't that why I paid the extra £85 to have them fitted.

Just thought I would let people know that I have now had the new side rubbing strips fitted. hopefully they will stay on now. The only slight issue I have with them is that they are now a slightly different shade of grey to the car. Guessing that is because the body shop didn't mix the paint 100% correct. Thanks Fiat that's just brilliant.

Fiat replaced the side rubbing strips and the passenger one came unstuck again 2weeks later. Took it back again whilst the car was back to have coil replaced due to an engine warining light coming on. Fiat glued the strip at the body shop and said that should hold it. Now 4 weeks later the strip has now come off again. Going back wednesday hopefully 3rd fix lucky I have little faith.

vibrating sound coming from drivers side of my week old evo. Sounds like is coming from the vent. Also footwell panel came off, it was the one nearest the door it hides the fuse box.

Right so my passenger side rubbing strip has now been replaced 3 times and has started to come unstuck for the 4th time.

I have phoned my dealer who again said they would order new ones and refit. I told them that I see no point in getting it replaced as the strips only stay stuck for 3 weeks maximum.

I have now sent a 2 page letter of complaint to Fiat UK customer relations department. Been waiting a week and haven't heard anything yet. I really regret buying a Fiat now and just don't know what I am gonna do. I just want closure on the very pathetic and simple problem that Fiat seem totally incapable of fixing.

I've had my side strip replaced once, has been fine... But, sending it back tomorrow due to the replacement strip being a matt black rather than metallic black -.-

I'm started to get annoyed at having to drive to the fiat dealership for such minor little problems (cubby hole x5, sidestrip x2) not only does it annoy me but I also feel I'm overstaying my welcome at the dealership.

Perhaps mine's one of the most obvious failures in the factory - they put a steering wheel on without the Blue&Me buttons, so I can't use it at all. Getting it replaced on Thursday though so OK. Am I right in thinking that the normal steering wheel comes with rubber bits at the top?

Can't understand this as they don't even make a model in this country without Blue&Me! Dealer spotted this as soon as he handed it over which was lucky!

Hi guys
I'm trading in my Grande Punto for a Evo 1.4 Sporting, does the new Evo's still have the water in the tailgate issue, it wasn't mentioned once in this thread so I'm assuming they have cured the problem :D

will keep an eye out for the missing bits though

Is it the shame shape as the normal steering wheel?

Yeah it was exactly the same, just blanks where the Windows and Phone buttons were meant to be.

Another check for the list.

The plastic molding to the left of the drivers leg, it has a grilled pointy bit - pointing towards the driver. This often comes loose and can catch on the drivers trousers when trying to depress the clutch. Bloody useless design!

To add as a newbie, I have a 1.4 GBT and so far I have had a rheostat on the heater Suspension top mounts and bottoms arms...
bought an ex demo with 1200miles on and only covered 6000miles.... hope this doesnt continue.
