I'm new to the forum so I though you might like my hints of the doblo. I have owned mine for the last two years clocking up 92,000 miles hard motoring. Of coarse I have had some faults and here they are.
1. Engine overheated without warning, resulting in new engine fitted at 21,000 miles. Damaged head apparently.
2. Central locking system would not unlock rear doors. Luckily I was able to open them from the inside by forcing the latch from its catch bar. The problem was the plastic piece fitted to the remote locking motor that operates the door mechanisms. This had broken. I made one in metal and its been fine since. Its a good idea however not to load anything against the doors putting pressure on the mechanisms. This is what I suspect caused the breakage in the first place.
3. If you hear a bump from the rear, or experience severe wandering on cornering, or feel the vehicle is about to leave its chassis check out the rear bump stops above the rear springs. Mine had worn away and in fact were'nt there at all. Replacements returned the van to prime condition again.
4. Intermittant wiper faults. Sometimes work alright and on other occasions not so. Cannot find the actual fault but it can be rectified by stopping the engine and restarting again. Bit of a nightmare when it happens on the motorway in a rainstorm though.
5. Rear nearside bearing wore out at 30,000. Replaced no trouble since.
6. One day I suffered major electrical malfunctions. Every switch, control and fitment operated something different to what it was intended to do. After checking the earthing system I located an earthing block fitted near the air cleaner, and this had broken off its mounting. Quickly repaired and refitted with no trouble since.
The best bit: it still drives and acts like a new vehicle at 92,000 on the clock and the parts are so easily fitted and so cheap to buy, and service.
