Yep

I had 2 lasses break down in their astra near my house. It was a busy main road and there was a massive queue of traffic forming behind them. As I approached I noticed the driver was trying over and over again to start the car but it wasn't having it. I dashed over like a proper knight in shining armour, ready to rescue the fair maidens (except they were real gompers - not at all nice).
I inspected under the bonnet and I realised what the problem was.

"Cam belt's gone, love"
"Can you fix it"
"Nah. You've fcuked it"

Yep. Real knight in shining armour, me.
I did lend her my phone though.

I helped a bloke pushing his car down Castle Boulevard, Nottingham in 1975. He thanked me and told me that he could get me a job at Boots factory if I wanted one.
I took up his offer and worked in D6 factory polyfusor dept and met my first wife there.

I don't stop to help people anymore.

ive stopped twice in my driving life time..

once when a woman had a flat tire, and once when it was pouring down in rain... they asked for jump leads but i was in the connect so didnt have any

would stop but never seen anyone that id need to stop for. see a lot of people these days with hazards on and just sitting there like a tw@ so they can use the phone.

once me and 3 mates in my cento when away for the weekend. in a small welsh town there was a car half on half off the road with hazards on... full of hotties. wanted to stop but couldnt turn around.... probably a trap anyway :p

broken down- no
crashed- yes

iv broken down/crashed a few times and everyone else seems the same, when my car was sticking out a ditch down quiet country road i had a hell of alot of people stop to help lol, some woman even drove home and got me a tow rope (y) not sure id be that nice to someone else

try that in a red lotus, everyone just points and laughs :( apart from one geeza called angus. He raced a lotus and so went and got is disco to pull it out. Well friendly chappy (y)

Turns out he's a dad of a friend of a friend (hope that makes sense) and has so many cool cars its untrue (including a GT40 that came 3rd in Le Mans in the 60's in original gulf colours, 2 lotus cortina's, a mk1 escort rally car and the list goes on and on)

More than twice as amny heroes as villains then so far...:(

Yes I have done a few times. The last time was down near Clermand Ferrand when I saw an E30 with its bonnet up. He just needed some water for the header tank and that was that. :):D

I only stop for the types of car i own, so any GP on the side I would stop to help.(y)

i was on the A47 yesterday and a lad had his corsa on the side of the road and hazards on i would have stopped but it came up too fast, however i felt guilty to just drive past so i went up the otherside and came back round to go help. made the gf get my hi-vis out of toolbox as i was driving back but the RAC had beaten me to it, still i tried.

lies! you just went around so you could go past pointing and laughing once more :p

Helped a bloke the other day, 02 plate honda civic just died on the guy & he was trying to get it off the road out of the way. I got out & helped push it off the road.
Strange how many squeezed past & were happy to sit in a long queue of traffic (probably moaning about having to sit there) watching the guy struggle.

helped a lad push his car off the road as it had conked out.

if someone is on their own and don't look like a pyscho and i can stop safely i'll see if i can help. once got stuck behind an old lady who was driving at about 12mph down the road. traffic was going mental and in the end she stopped in the middle of the road in a panic. the traffic over took her but i stopped to make sure she was ok. she was really confused but lived locally so i drove her home in her car and called her daughter so they could come look after her. i then walked back to my car. :(

oh and when I had the Sei and broke down (most times I went through a puddle) NO ONE ever stopped to help. i generally had the AA come out or waited for the engine bay to dry out and get going again but i remember once waiting for over an hour in the freezing temperature (frost and ice every where) on a country lane. i had managed to pull over as far off the road as possible and as far past the corner as i could but that was a struggle. plus the electrics had gone so no hazard lights. had the bonnet up so people realised i might not just be parking up for the view. and a good few COCKs drove past honking and swearing saying i was blocking the road. no offer of help. never seen ANYONE in a larger car (BMW/Audi/Merc) stop to help another driver.

Helped a marea with a flat battery get started again in Tesco. I was in the Tipo, with full Fiatforum.com stickers down the side. (y)

FF Rescue to the er... rescue?

On Sun i was driving down my lane and saw a Red Mk1 punto broken down, he admittedly ran out of petrol, luckily i had a good old Jerry can in the boot so took his misses to the petrol station where she bought petrol and came back. I got a Lion Bar out of it so i was chuffed!
