Styling Centre cap trims for steel wheels

My wife's Panda on OEM steels has the same bolts as my 100HP on OEM alloys. The spline wheel bolts are same again though sold for the Fiat 500. As always with new wheel bolts, fit the wheels, lightly fit the bolts and check they are not fouling anything behind the hub. If its OK then do them up tight and check again for clearance.

The large spline key is sold with the bolts but you can get individual keys for about £5 on eBay. It's an M14 or M16.

The Panda and 500 use the same wheel bolts, which I believe are suitable for all OEM wheels, whether steel or alloy. Torque settings are wheel dependent; most steel wheels have an inherent springiness by design, which permits a lower holding torque to be used.

They're just steel bolts with a light galvanizing dip so tend to corrode, but on those wheel/trim combinations where they're visible, you can paint the heads with etch primer & paint if it bothers you.

Thread revival.

Those spline drive wheel bolts have turned out to be great. The zinc got tarnished by winter salt, but they cleaned up and painted just fine. The visible sides don't get damaged by the spanner like normal hex bolts. I put a light smear of high solids anti seize on the tapers and threads to avoid any problems.

I use Action Can CS-90 as it's much more of a cheesy paste than the usual copper slip stuff.

The Fiat logo stickers have stuck well, though one has needed a touch of glue where it was trying to unstick itself. They are fine, but another time I would remove or dull the self adhesive and use Tiger Seal or similar body mastic.

Only just seen this because of the thread revival, I quite like those wheel bolts , might have to get some for the Punto if they will fit, 175k miles and I’m guessing the wheels having been on and off no end of times has started to round the edges of the original wheel bolts. Will think I have the unused oem bolts in the locking wheel nut set in the boot, so will have to take one and measure the thread length

They are a bit long for steels and do poke through at the back, but the same length as OEM bolts used on alloys and steels.
