I finished fitting cruise control in my 05 MJ today, so thought I'd post a few pointers for anybody doing the same in the future.

I fitted a AP900 kit from Bridgwater Electronics. Cost approx £280 delivered.

Kit consists of ECU box, wiring loom and tee harness.

You can choose what type of controller you want, I went for a small 3 button pad rather than a stalk for steering wheel.

Installation is relatively straightforward.

Assuming you have an electronic accelerator pedal, remove the panels below the steering column, and to make life easier, the lower panels below gearstick. To make access easier, I removed the Body Control Module. Each connector is colour coded, and has colour written on box by each socket, but I took a couple of pics just to make sure I refitted all the plugs properly.

Once BCM was out, I unscrewed the whole accelerator pedal unit from the bulkhead, 3 nuts hold it on to stufs in bulkhead. Dropped pedal down so I could disconnect plug and removed the whole pedal.

Tee harness comes ready with the correct connectors. Connect one end to pedal, go back under, and plug other end into the original plug. Bolt pedal back in.

I then ran the cable from tee harness behind the pedals, to the back of the centre column, where what looks like the airbag ecu is located. I plugged it into the cruise ECU box, which I fitted at the very bottom and rear of centre console, by airbag ecu.

I then plugged the main wiring loom into the ECU box, and ran the wires to relevant locations.

Orange wire - ignition 12v feed. Connected to a 12v ignition feed behind the stereo.

Green wire - Ground. Ran with orange wire and connected to earth wire behind stereo.

Purple wire - Clutch switch. Soldered onto clutch switch wire (on top of clutch pedal).

Brown/Brown white - pair of twisted wires which connect to the brake switch wires. Brake switch is in passenger footwell under glovebox, above and to the right near the centre console.

Blue wire - Speed Sensor. Connect blue wire to BCM. Plug D, Pin 18. (Looking at the BCM, it's the brown plug on the top right. Pins are numbered on the end of the plug.... should be wire on end all on its own. Don't worry if the wire colour isn't the same as in wiring diagram, mine wasn't, but must be pin 18.

That's the main unit wired up.

That just leaves the controller. I went with the 3 button pad, which I fitted on panel in front/below gearstick.

Drilled a hole in the large curved panel just below the controller, and fed the group of wires through, and fed them to ECU box.

The controller wires are all coloured, and a plastic connector is supplied, which is colour coded as well. Push the pins into the connector and they'll click in place. Plug connector into ECU.

That's it! Before refitting all the panels, I'd suggest trying it first to make sure it all works.

Follow the setup instructions in the book, pedal learning etc.

To complete the set-up, it needed driving along a road at 45mph and a couple of buttons pressed. If suggest a quiet road with no traffic.....and even better have someone with you who can read the instructions to you.

Once set up, secure all the wires, refit panels and enjoy!

It may sound complicated, but if you can solder some wires together, it really isn't that difficult.

If anyone needs to know anymore, drop me a message, and I'll do my best to help.
