My aftermarket muffler was fitted OK after all but at certain rpm on motorways the sound is bad, I think it is bc I got the cheapest Polish replacement. Now I am looking for a muffler as close as possible to the original one which sounded OK. It should be the squarish shape, not round. Did anyone here replace their old rotten muffler with aftermarket one that was more or less identical to the original? I thought Bosal should be the one, but the picture shows a round shape, not "squarish".

Do you think fiat fits the panda with Bosal?

Aftermarket "performance" exhausts often cause a booming at certain revs. Anything close to standard should be fine.

Must be hit and miss. 1.1 and 1.2 05 and 06 sound fine with cheap pattern part rear silencer. However the metal not as thick and will not last as long as the OEM one.

Can't tell you what band they are. Both were replaced by a garage before I bought the cars. Most likely just from a local motor factors.

I asked in a fiat spare parts shop and the guy told me that all the Polish alternatives and Bosal are bad and difficult to fit. He suggested I order from an Italian factory, forgot the name, but it is only twice as much for the Italian muffler than Bosal so I am going to get that. What I have now is the cheapest Polish stuff that I found, having no idea it would be difficult to fit and would make bad noise at certain rpm.

After two years and a new muffler from supposedly quality make, it is the same wrong oval shape - looks nothing like the original one - and makes horrible acoustic effects at certain rpm. I wonder where you owners of old pandas get your mufflers. Do they look exactly like the original one? This summer I saw dozens of old pandas in Italy, all equipped with the original mufflers. Do they last ten years or more? Or do they get the same original ones as replacement? In a shop they told me the original one would cost an equivalent of about 150 UK pounds. Aftermarket replacement, which does not work for me acoustically and looks different, cost about 50 pounds here. So a big difference but the acoustic effects at speeds between 100 and 140 kph are horrible. How much did you guys pay for aftermarket mufflers for your pandas? And did you notice a different sound?

I’ve always stuck with the original parts as I’ve had aftermarket back boxed and they are cheaply made, make more noise and some have disintegrated inside after 3 years. The original ones do last a while once the outer skin has corroded. The MK3 panda has a similar design but the original exhausts last much longer

I fitted a cheap system from eBay. It needed a piece of the old pipe to sleeve the manifold outlet to get a fit, but otherwise its been fine. Noise levels are the same as before.
The cheap systems always rust at the welds so leave them a few months then coat the welds with high temperature copper grease to keep the rust at bay.
