Hello, I need to replace the fender on my Panda, the passenger side one.

I can source a Fiat part for £30 on buycarparts, but then it'll need sprayed silver and we could fit it ourselves. I'm worried a bodyshop will charge an arm and a leg for this!!!

There's a great used, silver one on eBay which is £50 but doesn't post to Northern Ireland :-/.

Has anyone here replaced the part and/or had to spray a panel of this size?

It's a bolt-on job. Follow round the edges of the wing and the bolts will be apparent. Don't forget the bolt seen at the base of the passenger door (visible when door is open). The side repeater light just unclips from the wing, and the electrical connection just unplugs. Same basic procedure applies if it's just the front fender, except that you don't need to rust proof it because it's a plastic moulding.

To spray, order up a rattle can from any specialist auto paint shop, and get lacquer from the same shop. Give them your paint code and they will match it. With care, you will make a good finish which will be very close to the original. Plenty of tutorials on the Tube.

Before fixing the new wing, remember to paint the inner side with a good rust preventer. I have just primed and sprayed with whatever dark colour I happened to have, then waxoiled over the paint before fitting the wing.

Thanks! Thats very helpful. We were concerned about potential 'spot welds' but the Panda's beauty is its simplicity.

Now, as for aerosols, how many litres/ml bottles will I need for a wing?

My mistake, it's the WING not the FENDER, I thought they were the same thing!

Replacing the panel's the easy bit. If it had been a solid (plain) colour the aerosol route could produce a reasonable finish and match.
As yours is silver colour matching is a bit more trouble - most professional bodyshops would 'blend' the colour into the adjacent panels to achieve an invisible repair.

Plenty more info here for you;

Hi
just done one of these
Remove road wheel
Secure car on jack
Remove liner
With gloves on carefully cut all sealant with a sharp Stanley knife down the a post
Cut the right one it's the one nearest the wing
remove indicator in. Wing or bulb connected if damaged wing causes less room
Undo 8mm headed bolt in bumper to wing
Undo the Torq type fitting bumper to wing 27 size I think
now undue the bolt that fastens wing to headlight,it might break off the light don't worry they usually do but can . Be welded back on with a soldering iron
Put masking tape round the edges of door to wing and five inches along bottom of door
Remove the three bolts on wing rail
Remove bolt on A post top with door fully open
Remove bolt on top of sill with door open
Remove bolt on sill bottom
Get mole grips on bottom of wing and peel old wing of the sill
Now carefully pull wing at top edge by screen being careful as screen easy to break pull so it rips off all the factory sealant watch door doesn't get scratched which is what masking tape is for
Once pulled off being careful you can slide it out from the bumper
If you prefer take front grille off and then the four Torq fasteners to bumper undo two remaining headlight bolts carefully pull bumper forward here and pull light out for ease of wing replacement
A 1/4 litre of paint would paint this wing in the base coat colour plus two coats of lacquer
If it was done with a spray gun
doing it with rattle cans will be hard as its very easy to get stripes
These wings don't like coming off easy so a second hand one might fit funny to the door
New copy wings also usually aren't a good fit to door to wing either ,the one I've just fitted was a pull it here hold it there do the bolts up quick job
Job takes little time really its the painting causes the hassle, cannot a local paintshop paint it for you

Is that a pattern part? If so, be careful!
Previous owner fitted a pattern wing on our Sporting. Was not great quality or fit (struggled to remove headlight coz the wing was "bent" to fit), and now it also has rust bubbles on wheel arch.
Probably going to replace it with a secondhand original wing in the summer when I sort out the other dings and scrapes.

Rattle can painting is not so hard, but you need an indoor space (garage).

One rattle can plus one clear coat (another rattle can) will comfortably do the wing.
I have just done my bonnet like this, as the paint was showing wear and blemishes.

If it's a new wing, then a can of primer will also be needed. Plenty more info if you want it.

The man on eBay said No, he wouldn't ship to NI

I am also awaiting a silver rear bumper. Can't be bothered with painting it, though it's not a bad scuff. It's been that way for 2 years though. Probably the same ebayer who won't ship to me either........

Way I see it, unless it's bad, why worry? Consider it the new Euro look (since that's what most cars look like in Europe).

It was dented badly, but now it resembles a crisp packet!

The eBay seller is called Jp auto parts - #NameAndShame

Offered to pay over the odds for it too

Pleading with an eBay seller to ship to NI as there's a perfect silver wing for sale for £50.

If not I'll have to order one from ECP for £38 and paint it somehow

Tell the seller you will arrange the delivery and then get MyHermes on the case. I think the cover NI. If not ParcelForce/Senditnow certainly do.

Failing that get a professional to paint your new wing off the car. It wont be the perfect match but it should be close.

Dont forget to remove the old sealant and smear new over the areas you have scraped. A common cause of rust damage is scratch paint where new glass and wings have been fitted.

I have found a solution - with thanks to a member on here- , and bagged this part:

http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/262822689729

So it's just a matter of fitting. Though it'll not be here until next weekend, I'm grateful I've got it on the way.

As one of my wheel trims is also shattered, I ordered four new ones from S4P which I'm told are Italian copies of the originals.. either way, 13". bolt-on. Has a Fiat logo. Gotta be passable!

They're from the ACTIVE trim, because the DYNAMIC ones were out of stock. It'll be a refreshing change I think. Don't think there's as many Fiat buffs around here that'll say to each other "Look, that guys driving a Dynamic with Active trims pfffft" (I have a friend who does this about Fords!) haha

I will post a before and after when the part is fitted. It's shockingly bad. I did have a dent on it before, as most of you saw, which was bad but this.. this just finished the panel.

Well done in finding one in the correct colour. Save all the faff of painting.
