Hi folks, I've recently acquired my father in laws 2008 Panda and I'm trying to sort a few minor problems with it. One of them is not being able to adjust the drivers side wing mirror (manual).

I've popped the grey inner trim and I can't see the cables that hook up to the adjuster. I'm now trying to take the wing mirror off to find the cables but I'm stuck! All I can see is a large black plastic ring. Any ideas where to go from here? Cheers

Thanks for the pic, I've got to get mine off sometime for another reason.

The adjuster cables should be in the centre hole, strange they've all disappeared. New mirror probably the only way to go.

The strange nut has to be undone to remove the mirror. Fiat show a special tool in their official manual. Other threads have used pointy pliers or circlip pliers to turn it. It will fight, as can be seen by the little barbs that work to stop it coming undone. Patience, and some swearing will be needed. Maybe lots of swearing.

Many thanks for the advice. I'll hunt out the pliers and have a bash at it!

1. On my first mirror I cut the giant nut with a Dremel - mistake since new mirrors do not come with a new nut.......

2. Oil around the nut thread area (Olive oil or whatever) before attempting to undo it - use larger mole grips or similar.

Thanks again folks, I've got a pretty good idea of how to tackle the job now. I'll report back when I have a go later on this week ?

Big thanks for all the pointers folks! I got the mirror off first try this afternoon. No dice on the adjuster cables so it'll be a run to the scrappy for a replacement.
