Hi

I'm new on here having joined to hopefully get guidance on how I can check/top up/change the oil in the dualogic box. The car is now 6 yrs old / 34k miles and looking at the service history (main dealer) I can see no reference to it being changed. I'm doing a 'service' myself this time around and want to include the gearbox - but how??

Grateful for help please

I'm having the same bother with my JTD - The Haynes manual, which also covers the 500, just shows a nice picture of a gearbox with an arrow pointing out the filler plug. In reality, it is invisible on the panda, buried beneath battery, ECU, engine mountings and god knows what else. I can't even get a finger to it to locate it blind, let alone an allen key to open it. I dare not drive it now as the gears get stiff after warming up, so it's in bad need of a top-up.

Not with ease, you need to remove the Selespeed reservoir protector. Its on the font of the gearbox behind the radiator and looks like a shaped baking tray.

This isn't what the OP asked, as they've the automatic box.

For you though its no different to any other manual box, open the filler, put your finger in and should feel the oil level.

Might be worth a change if you fancy it, but unless you've had it leaking out everywhere it wouldn't have dropped in level (y)

Hi everyone. I am writing to you from Poland. Although we like Fiats and we drive a lot of 500 models, the ones with the DUALOGIC gearbox are in the minority and there is little information about the exchange of oil in them.

I have a question for you regarding the independent oil change in the DUALOGIC module. It's about TUTELA CS SPEED oil.

Is there still high pressure when the car is turned off and the aku is disconnected in the plastic reservoir? Or not? And can I worry about unscrewing the plastic cap at the top and suck out all the liquid first and then pour a new one?

Do I unfortunately need to first reduce the pressure in the system using a diagnostic computer.

BUT - Are the gears stiff because the gearbox needs oil or because the Duologic needs a service? A new nitrogen reservoir is not overly costly so I would be starting there and changing the servo/actuator oil.
Also bear in mind it uses a standard style clutch which gets worked pretty hard in order to make it drive more like a "normal" automatic. It might be worn or not releasing properly as happens with manual cars when the clutch release hydraulics are worn.
