Hi guys and girls was just wondering weather any of you know where abouts I could get a set of throttle bodies and the inlet manifold they bolt to as iv had a quick look and it seems that all I can find is sets for fords!!! I am also considering a bike carb conversion but aren't sure weather this is even possible with the panda 100hp any advise or links would b much appreciated
Thanks jack

First, to make ITBs do anything remotely worthwhile, you'll need a new exhaust manifold, a new camshaft, and a remap. AFAIK, you can't remap the 100hp ECU, so new ECU or piggy back ECU.

Once you've got that far, and bought the throttle bodies (Jenvey, etc. will have TBs) and had a manifold machined or fabricated and paid the rolling road man, you'll have spent more than a complete T Jet engine, box and ECU can be had for.

It's nuts!

Bike TBs are a bit cheaper, but you've still go to get the manifold made up and all the rest.

Your chances of getting a Euro 4 car through emissions with bike carbs are remore in the extreme.

I understand the emissions problems but as I have a few good 'dodgy' friends who are mot testers I'm pretty sure that side of things won't b too much bother and the reason im lookin at going down the tb's route is I would like something completely different to what iv seen so far I.e turbo conversions/engine swaps. And also iv spoken to a few companies that can remap the 100hp now as I was lookin into this a few months ago for around £250-£300 (to me this sounds pretty reasonable) but thanks for the comments it always helps to hear other people's opinions

Just make sure they really can remap it. There are a fair few people out there who believe that all FIRE 1.4 16v engines use the same ECU. They don't!

Different is one thing, effective is something else. For ITBs or bike carbs to be effective, the engine has to require (or be able to use) the extra air/fuel. If it can't, it's pointless. The requirement is largely down to cams, cylinder filling, exhaust manifold.

It's widely reported thatt he 1.4 16v engines will throw rods if pushed past 140bhp.

Don't forget the VOSA spot checks!

For one man's attempt to do this properly, see this.

Ok thanks for that fingers99 and yes I did no that point about the panda ecu being what one company called a type 17 ecu which means it has to be physically removed from the car and opened up for some unknown reason to me. I also understand this is a big project but I won't b rushing into it and also have open use on a college dyno, plus I am also a mechanics so have all tools and a workshop to proform the tasks needed I was just interested in weather anyone had done it or looked into it and had seen something I missed!!
