We have an '08 Multijet that has done less than 18,000. It has developed an intermittent fault and the starter does not always turn over, although either a relay or the solenoid can be heard working.
I've read through some threads and the wiring to and from the battery and the solenoid / starter motor will be checked just as soon as we have a fine day (probably the week after next!!!).
Has anyone checked the starter assembly to see if it is possible to dismantle the solenoid and refurbish the contacts? This proceedure used to be a valid option with previous vehicles.

my fiat 55 plate has had this problem... going through the motions...could be ignition switch have looked on many posts.... mine started with faliure to start after use now blows f23 fuse which points towards ignition swith... goint to do tests tomorrow as i have been on various blogs...check wires from ignition to starter solinoid as this has contact issues... will keep u updated
