The rear view mirror came off my other half's Panda.

I've tried almost everything to stick it back on including the rear view mirror glue sold by Halfords:

It doesn't work for the Panda mirror fixing.

I've also tried the Halfords adhesive mirror pads. They are very poor - the mirror is not fixed firmly and moves around when the car is in motion. The cost is £5.40 for two little pads!

So I'm stumped as to what to do.

I noticed that the mirror seems to have been factory fitted with some sort of adhesive pad. It's unlike anything I've seen for sale. It is stuck very firmly to the mount (it needed to be peeled off to use the Halfords glue).

Does anyone have any advice? Maybe I just need to take the mirror to a body shop for it to be fitted and stop throwing more good money after bad.

I called my local dealer today. Didn't have a clue what I was asking for and didn't seem too bothered to try and help. I guess small purchases don't trigger their profit antenna.

Tried the Loctite rear view mirror glue - didn't work; tried the "special" pads at £5.50 for two - didn't work.

Went to a windscreen repair centre - they charged £9.50 + VAT but at least it worked.

What I noticed is that they use a special plastic pad which is glued between the mirror and the windscreen. Just like the factory fitted pad that is stuck fast to the mirror fixing unit.

The Loctite glue uses a thin gauze instead. This, I guess, is why it doesn't work.
