Hi

So after 14 years with a faithful old Golf, we have taken the plunge and bought a new Panda Cross.
We have been after 4 wheel drive capability for an age and hope that it will mean that this year, come the snow, we will be able to get a car up to the house rather than having to walk the last 200 meters.
It should also be a good learner for the kids in a few years time.

So, we are new to Fiat and would be grateful fot any tips for looking after our new baby.

Incidently, we have noticed a mechanical noise when changing up and wondered if this is a normal transmission noise or something to get checked out.

The forum seems to be a wealth of info so I reckon that we will be dipping in regularly to seek sensible advice.

Thanks for the welcome.
I had spotted the item that you suggested. I don't think ours is quite the same.
Under acceleration, when changing up, it's a short mechanical rattle. I will probably get it checked out at the dealers this week.

Cheers

Hi and welcome to you. Im writing from sunny Northern Spain where I´m helping out on a spoken English for spaniards course. I drove down here in the Cross, taking 4 days, and it was hell but that was not down to the Panda.
Anyhow, you will find that your Cross speaks to you an awful lot as you drive along. The turbo puffs and wheezes, especially when you make the car work hard. The gearchange and transmission sings along as you use it. Altogether a happy little car. Don´t stress about the noises, they are probably nothing.

I guess you are enjoying somewhat warmer weather than us at the moment.....our Panda has been white rather than green for the last two mornings. Presumably the "fun" was in getting through France. I guess getting fuel was a bit of an issue?

Thanks for your comments hopefully you are right and it is just one of those things!!

Hi,
Welcome to the forum
If you search for the thread 'MJ Clutch Noise on Gearchange' you may find your answer to the noise on changing up. It worked for me and your issue sounds similar to mine.
Fixed without quibble under warranty by my dealer.
I cannot claim to be the originator of the info/pics on the thread.
There are a number of threads on this topic which appears to afflict some 1.3 MJ Panda's and 1.3 MJ 500's.
Best regards,
Cookcarey

Hi and thanks for the link......

This seems to be exactly what we are experiencing.
I called at the local dealers today and they acknowledged the problem but hadn't come across it before.
I will refer them to this thread and hopefully, they will be able to sort out our Panda in the same way yours was fixed.

Thanks again....I'll let you know how we get on

Just picked up our Cross from having a new clutch damper fitted.

Problem solved.

Thanks a lot to Cookecarey for the advice

Good news about the clutch damper. Makes you wonder why Fiat don't just fit them to begin with

On a seperate note, i saw a Panda Cross on the A40 near Witney in Oxfordshire thia afternoon. P100 PEP i think the plate was (definately P100 at the start). Was that anyone here? Annoyingly i was in my Parents Laguna, not my Stilo :(

Hi Bks. FV,
Glad to help, I'm pretty new here myself, but got on to this issue V quickly due to the posts + experiences of other members.
I guess you need 4WD in High Peak, I looked at one too, but as it's (relatively) flat where we live, Head ruled Heart so we got the MJ. Great little car, really well put together. Ideal for the Work/School commute.
We too always had VWs, but I think a break will do them good!
Best Regards,
Cookecarey
