A few of you may remember two of my previous threads about adding a few bits and pieces to the Panda to make it a bit more individual.

Well I’ve been at it again lol

Continuing with the with the OEM+ look I have added a few bits which although are quite small and probably oblivious to the average car owner I think finish off the car.

The first part isn’t really a modification, more like a replacement.

Ever since I bought the car I noticed that the passenger’s side fog light surround never really looked properly connected and the screws holding it seemed to be rusting very quickly.

After having a look at it I found one of the holes for the screws had snapped so a new part was ordered and fitted.

Not fitting properly

Once removed I could see what the problem was, snapped screw support.

One of the screws were rusted that badly I had to drill it out resulting in further damage to the old fog lamp surround.

I decided to remove both surrounds so I could clean behind them and renew all the screws.

Next up was the wheel bolts.

After posting up my painted callipers a few people commented on the rust on the wheel bolts. I had not noticed this before but after people pointing it out they stood out like a sore thumb lol

My old car, a Corsa SXI, came with wheel nut covers so I went to a Vauxhall dealer to try and order some but the wanted £2.50 per cover which IMO is a rip off. A quick look on ebay and I managed to get 20 for £5 posted!

Much better I think you’ll agree!

Last on my list was to modify the rear lights. With the Panda there is only one reverse light and one rear fog light which are housed in separate light clusters. This causes an unsymmetrical look.

My original plan was to replace the red fog light bulb with a silver coated red bulb but nothing is ever that easy is it?

It turns out it not actually a red bulb, it’s a red cover over the bulb.

In trying to remove the cover and separate the light cluster I pulled a bit too hard which resulted in the following…

Yip, it snapped!

After trying different methods to separate the cluster again it came to my attention that European Panda’s have opposite rear lights to UK cars so off to the dealers again to order a LHD rear light cluster.

A week later I picked it up.

All the way from Italy itself, via Poland that is lol

So yesterday I gave the car a good wash and fitted the new light along with the silver coated rear fog light bulb and some SilverVision indicator bulbs.

Nice and symmetrical now!

I think that will do the car for now on the modification front. I know these are just little things but in my opinion they all add up to improve the over all look of the car.

OEM+ is the future!

Sorry for the long read, I’ll leave you with some pictures of the car in its current state.

The wheel bolt covers are a nice touch.
My daughter has a new model Corsa with these. Main problem is easing them off without damaging the finish on the alloys.
Any suggestions?

Get a pair or tweezers and bend both edges inwards. This creates a gripper that clips behind the small indent about 5mm into the cover.

There should be a tool in the locking hweel nut case that goes over the top of them and allows you to pull them off.

Thanks for the comments guys!

Very impressive ! How long does it take to get it looking that immaculate ? Especially the bloody rear diffuser - can't seem to stop the dirt building up there...
Also been considering the wheel nut covers - as you've just bought them what size are they ? Presume 19mm ? Any thoughts as how to cover the locking nut ?

Very impressive and my kind of subtle mods. I am not one for going overboard but these mods you have done really make a difference, its nice to have such a new car to be able to do this with. :slayer:

Looks great (y)

Would deffo do what others have said and paint the screw heads black on the fog surrounds.

What about doing the Fiat badges to the new red ones?

The car gets a weekly wash which takes about 2-3 hours.

As for the diffuser and grills, I go round the car with a soft brush when the car is covered in foam and lightly brush the plastics.

The wheel nut covers are 17mm. Not sure about covering the locking one, you may have to buy different locking bolts that come with covers. It doesn't look odd with just the three covers on each wheel though.

good work, cracking looking Panda!

Cheers Chris, you have been a legend in supplying part numbers and prices :worship:

Thanks, i'll probably get round to doing the screws at some point.

I was thinking about changing to the red badges but with me wanting eveything perfect I would have to change the steering wheel and key badges which aren't availible in the badge kit.

Like it! I work as a graphic designer, and its little, subtle things like this that make the difference. Very tasteful. So very much more appealing than lots of bling. My Panda's a 4x4 which I think looks more 'balanced' with its extra bumper trays and side strips, and personally I think the extra height looks better than the lowered 100HP too (cat, meet piegons!) But I've never really liked it's odd tail lights. Was that LHD tail lamp expensive? (If you don't mind me asking!) Might be tempted to do that to mine.

No probs mate, anytime (y)

Looks good
Do you have reardrive and fog light in both sides now ?
and if was the wiring ready for that ?
If it was that it may be possiblle do that here in Europe with lefthand drive.just the other way around

I still have a reverse light and a fog light.

I used the electrical circuit from the old light and fitted it on the new light so that the wiring did not need changing.

Yes, this could be done on a LHD car.

Looks great... and so clean. Don't think mine has been that clean since I bought it. :(
