Please can anyone tell me precisely (no guesses please) what
"ABS Control Unit Side Resistance Not Compliant"
means regarding a 2004 Panda. Thank you. Regards ~ Chris

The only precise answer to this is that your ABS Control Unit has a Side Resistance that is Not Compliant.

Unfortunately the definitions of Fault Codes are never precise and always involve an element of guess work. At best they point you in the direction of the fault for further investigation.

You specified "no guesses" which, in view of the above, is probably why you got no response to your post.

Dave.

Thanks for your clever reply. I have the elearn Fiat workshop manual and have read it. There is no mention of this code. The way I got this dessciption was from a main dealers service dept.
This is a Bosch 8 ABS System and I really need someone who knows what they are talking about. I would rether have no replies than 1 that I spend hours wasting my valuable time on.

That's a bit unfair mate - he tried to explain as best he could.

Listen, people here help on a purely voluntary basis. If you were paying for his/her time then I could understand you being a little annoyed but this person is doing you a favour so give them some respect. You owe them an apology at the very least.

U know I think sometimes people think that The Fiat Forum is run by Fiat, not a group of enthusiasts who try to help each other.

That could be why some Post here with such cutting comments, they feel that Fiat dont care. (Different issue :( )

Well people's stupidity and ignorange shouldn't be the problem of people here that are only trying to help :)

Yea I agree, but it might explain things, the professional presentation of FF does make it look like it is "official" rather than voluntary, and we all know people of a very wide range of knowledge, common sense and intelligence come on here for help, thats the nature of a Forum.

I would have said that Fiatforum was obviously not an official Fiat forum. The fact that the logo at the top isn't official looking. You'll never find a chit chat section on an official forum ;). People who assume **** me off anyway.

If you look at the OP's Post count its obvious he is a noob.

And I think you are assuming there is no Chit chat on all official Forums :D

Whatever... I'm

What I mean is that on an official forum there will be no chit chat section with threads like a show us your ass thread :p

Aah right lol! Maybe he Posted before he looked... anyhow... I notice the OP has vanished lol!

I like this forum because swearing, harsh comments and "naming and shaming" are tolerated.
I also visit the Honest John fora (proper Latin plural for forum, dontcha know) and, although some very good posts and useful technical info, the inhibited prissiness that prevails can do my head in. Once received an email from one of their mods asking me, basically, to stop using the Lord's name in vain as they had complaints. I.e. they asked me to stop typing my God, oh my God etc.
Well, for Allah's sake, what am I supposed to do.:)

:ROFLMAO: :yeahthat: I love the bitchiness tolerated on this site - makes Jerry Springer seem tame!

QUOTE=skydome; (from another thread) "I have a U1601 on a new type Panda and the ABS & ESP lights are on. I am a qualified electronics engineer and have been chasing this intermittent fault for months. U1601 is as you say a can bus line error either on can line A or B. This can be connections or earths but also on a Panda can be ABS Control Unit Side Resistance Not Compliant. Good Luck ~ skydome"

If you, as a "qualified electronics engineer", have been "chasing this intermittent fault for months", then I suppose that comfirms my "clever reply" to your original post i.e.

QUOTE=Davren; "Unfortunately the definitions of Fault Codes are never precise and always involve an element of guess work. At best they point you in the direction of the fault for further investigation."

I would suggest that as I, nor apparently anyone else, on this forum can offer you the exact answer to your problem, you consult a qualified automotive electronics engineer, perhaps at the Fiat service dept. that gave you the fault description.

Dave.
