Re: I spy with my little eye...

Ah, is it in there? LOL - I was still waiting to hear back from a few people, but it seems I have been left out of the loop...

I will buy a copy tomorrow ;)

Are you able to elaborate, Stu? :D

Re: I spy with my little eye...

Well, I had some prototype Cobra springs fitted a few months back now, in readiness for an Evo feature.

BUT they never cured the bounced, far from it - even though the car does indeed sit lower :yum:

Part of the reason may be due to fact the bumpstops weren't revised, OR the inherent setup of the car, and new shocks may also be required; this is an option I may look into.

What Evo says won't surprise me, although still not read it yet. Harry was definitely not impressed by the setup, mainly at the rear.

Yikes, their rating dropped from 4 stars for the original car to 2 stars for the Cobra-equipped car.

I'm surprised Cobra didn't realise what a 25mm drop would do to the car without revising any of the related components.

When they're working properly with everything else, progressive springs can work wonders on a car's suspension - I used to have some on my Smart and the difference was amazing.

The article says Cobra are looking into the bump stop issue, but Harry sums it up like this: "...for the moment keeping the springs standard and holding on tight remains the best option."

I have mentioned toCobra about sorting out the bumpstops - nothing has come from it yet!

Although saying that, the car feels way much better when driven hard into corners, which is why I am keeping them on for now :) the garage that fitted them for me has offered to put back my originals as and when though, so no great loss.

Re: I spy with my little eye...

Hope Cobra get something sorted for you soon...

Still, it's great to get your name mentioned and car featured in EVO! Did they give you a free sub for helping out? ;)

Re: I spy with my little eye...

Cool - although of course I will buy it tomorrow.

Just sent off an email to my Cobra contact, to see what the state of play is with the bumpstops.

This was bought up only recently on another thread, when someone bought some Eibachs for their 100HP, and it came with revised stops, albeit not fitting LOL

Re: I spy with my little eye...

Seriously, lowered springs and standard bump stops?

Have you seen just how close a standard HP is to the rear stops? Yours must practically sit on them!

That's pretty much what Evo say about the Cobra springs. Not good

Re: I spy with my little eye...

Hmmm interesting. The only good reccomendation i have heard was for KW Coilovers but they're about £600 i think but whoever the guy was that fitted them said that they actually improved the ride.

The Eibachs are good in that they only dropped the car by 10/15mm but the bump stops are still an issue:rolleyes:

Re: I spy with my little eye...

At last the old conspiracy is over ;) and we know not to bother to wait for Corba - shame one could save few $ :(. How many of you might be interested in group buy of KW coilovers? m

Re: I spy with my little eye...

Ok, got the article now :D

Pic looks cool with the red calipers, hehe - ashame no close up of the FF sticker though  They do agree about the marginally faster turn in, and the fact the car looks cooler with them on...

...but the setup on the rear is bad - and not what Cobra intended. Still, if they do develop it further, then that is a good sign :chin:

Re: I spy with my little eye...

You could always head the development yourself, how about standard Panda bump stops? Check at Stanford and see if they are any different / shorter than the HP ones.

@29PGC10 - you can't say they Cobras are no good, they might be fantastic with shorter bump stops.
