well driving to work this morning, I hit a pigeon......not quite, wish it was though, anyway, was doing about 40mph coming out of the village towards the ansley roundabout (some of you may know it) and I see a car coming towards me at speed lose control, so I stop, the back end of the car was all over the place, then he mounts the kerb, and the hedge, flips the car, and it comes rolling towards me, hmmm, **** I think, so I whip it in reverse as fast as I can, which was enough to get me about a meter back by the time the car landed on mine, here's one pic, I've got a load more but can't upload them.
the police said I did well to think to reverse as I could have been seriously injured, I checked the guy in the car was ok, he hadn't worn a seatbelt, he was in the passenger seat when I opened the door, and was soon in an ambulence on the way to hospital, anyway, let this be a lesson to everyone, just think if I had actually been doing the permitted speed, I might not be telling this story.

I wrote this on another site, bit of a ****ter really, wonder what courtesy car I'll get?

holy ****ing hell!! you ok though? suprised you can type, most would be needing a very stiff drink! looks like the front wheel of the pug hit the windscreen right in front of you?

edit: i take it you have got the incident ref dets, shoulder numbers of officers attending, your insurance co will most def want those...
were you asked to make an initial statement at scene?

Scary biscuits...

Sorry to hear that - Hope you're okay...

everythings sorted all the neccessary stuff has been passed on, just waiting for a call from the solicitor now, for anyone in doubt of fiat build quality, i was able to start and drive the car back via police convoy to my house, slightly crabbing though, ill get more pics up soon, well gutted though

Oh my!!!

Initially seeing that pic before reading the post I thought "how the hell did that happen!?"
Glad to hear you're OK, this is why we all pay for our premiums - get well soon Panda :)

Jeez James......Glad to hear your ok mate. Well done on the quick thinking.

Hope the repair time inconvenience doesn't cause you too much hastle and you soon get sorted.

Your pic is a timely reminder to us all of how vulnerable we really are on the road.

Glad you're OK fella; sounds like an expensive job to get the 100 back on the road but at least it wasn't your fault! Smart thinking. Hopefully things will go smoothly with the insurers...

the pug rolled about 3 times in front of me, my insurance are being quite difficult at the minute, but on the bright side I don't need to pay petrol for a bit, the front suspension is bent and ironically, the camber is out (again!) by miles, theres some pictures of the damage below, take note of the A-pillar damage (thats where I think the problems will lie) and taking over a tonne of weight (especially with the momentum) on a small vunerable area can't be good for the chassis/pan, the dash has also moved forward about half an inch. In a way I'm hoping they'll write it off, at least that way the new one will be spot on

i think it's going to be a very very tight call.....that a pillar, with the damage to the top of the front bulk head will probably tip it the wrong way, and like you said, even after being pulled back on a jig, reset and repaired, it won't feel the same, even my mum, a notorious slow driver these days, noticed the change in her cars behaviour when it was repaired after a big hit

cheers folks, yeah, I'd rather have a new one, just shows you what one selfish guy can cause through his right foot, I keep going out to it and staring, theres lots of damage under the bonnet, the top part of the bulkhead is deformed, the nearside front shock is hanging loose I daredn't look underneath :(

At least the panda folk know we're driving a pretty solid car :)

With that damage and the newness of the car, I hope they will write it off for you... Then you will be able to get a perfect new one again.

These pics are heartbreaking James - "there but for the grace of God" and all that.

Let's hope for a 'write-off' decision - time to dust down that New for Old policy clause me thinks.

That's a sorry sight. Would be so upset if anything like that happened to mine. Glad to hear you're okay though. I guess at the end of the day that's the most important thing.

Bloody Hell!
Glad you're ok, sounds like your quick thinking and actions may have prevented this being much more serious.
On the other hand, if he was driving like a knobber without a seatbelt on, I wonder if he has insurance? :(

it was confirmed he had insurance yes, still really gutted, mainly because my independance has been taken away, glad to have made it out though, and that the panda had taken the hit really well, I'll update as I know more, but cheers for the comments and the sympathy hehe
