No Ferrari they went their own way several years back. I have a mate who owns a 458. He gets more than a bit excited when I tell him its a big Fiat... One day he will need towing off an anthill and I will get my own back!

That's because in America they sell big SUV's and pickups en masse. It's not the Panda's and 500's that are the problem for FCA but the RAM's and Jeep Grand Cherokee's. FCA is the only one of the big American 3 not producing proper hybrid and electric cars. The 500e is to be discontinued there in 2020.

Merging with PSA will give them hybrid and electric know-how overnight and at much lower cost than if they'd developed it themselves.
