General New Panda Waze model with free 4x4!

It will be interesting to hear if you achieve any movement on price. I spec'd one up to get as close as I could to my yellow Cross, and ended up just short of £14k - and still with those poverty-spec steel wheels (the configurator doesn't allow you to choose alloys - surely Fiat are missing a trick there?).

With a £2k Fiat deposit contribution on the 4x4 and Cross at the moment, and 0% finance over 3 years (via the Privilege scheme - available to anyone who stumps up a few quid to join the IAM), the Waze 4x4 isn't quite as much of a steal as it might at first appear. It only looks that way because the RRP of the Waze is high. But I agree that with some packs/options thrown in, and a decent finance offer, the Waze deal could stack up very nicely indeed.

(I see that, in the small print, Fiat say that the Waze 4x4 deal can't be combined with any other offer, so presumably no Fiat deposit contribution or 0% finance? If that deal can be combined with Privilege, even I'd be all over it - and I'm a notoriously tight bastard.)

Hi there,

What is the IAM? i don't think I've heard of it, if you could expand, that would be great.

I"m not a fan of alloy wheels, too easy to scuff and costly to repair. I always try and spec down to steel wheels and wheel trims if I can, but it's getting harder to do that these days. Nearly everything comes with alloy wheels, unfortunately.

Yeah, I'm not expecting to get any more of a price reduction and again when I sepecced mine up in came to nearly £14,000 so I am hoping to get some options or packs thrown in. I've been buying new or nealry new Fiats retail from my my local dealer for the last 10 years and having servicing done for longer. They have looked after me well in the past and I'm keen to see if they'll do it again on the Waze.

Panda. :D

Institute of Advanced motorists. FIAT offers large discounts for people who are members of certain groups/employers. Two schemes - for example:

FOR CASH BUYERS
https://www.polfed.org/WestMids/media/2353/fca-affinity-price-list-1-january-31-march-2019-1.pdf

FOR FINANCE BUYERS
https://www.polfed.org/WestMids/med...heme-price-list-1-january-31-march-2019-3.pdf

Your local dealer can quote you the membership requirements (e.g. FIAT Motor club).

^ what he said ^

... although access to the two schemes (Affinity and Privilege) is not just about whether you're a cash buyer or buying on finance. The eligibility rules are different.

So, as an IAM member (or, strictly speaking, the husband of one - family members are eligible too (y)) I am able to benefit from Privilege, but not Affinity.

It saved me over £3k on my Cross, and I got 0% finance, too. It's a no brainer. The deals change on a quarterly basis, so it's always a gamble whether to twist or stick at any particular moment.

Oddly enough, I find my Cross is resistant to scuffing - in two and a half years I haven't marked the wheels. I think it's because the tyres are quite fat and so the rims are sort of recessed by just enough that the tyre hit the kerb first.

I've managed to scuff two of mine :(

For someone like me who isn't totally convinced by the Waze, this isn't a bad offer. https://www.glynhopkin.com/fiat/new-vehicle-offers/new-fiat-panda-4x4/

gar074 would never have believed the TA 90 Waze even if have to add yellow paint, heated mirrors and 3rd rear seatbelt would undercut a new TA Cross RRP by over £4k.

Yes its pretty well identical too. It seems the waze 4x4 has a RRP of 15360 or so so its a bargain at 12250. The required extras amount to about 500 and it could do with some better wheels. I much prefer the absence of fake leather which in the Panda amounts to plasticised canvas. If we get tariffs on new cars and my delivery is delayed however I will cancel immediately as I have a set budget and will not exceed it. Its up to Fiat to get it here in a reasonable time without delay. This offer is obviously to smooth out production demand while B***** is farcing its way on. Here is hoping the car gets here in time.

Can one of "the knowledgable ones" out there tell me of significant differences between the 4x4 90bhp and the 85bhp TA engines and performance.
Can the 85 be uprated to 90 and if so is it worth it? I would say if it is a trade off between performance and reliability I will opt for reliability every time.
Thanks in advance(y)

Hi Colin. Research suggests that its worth B all. 0.1 seconds off the 0-62 time. No difference in torque so not worth talking about really. I am sure its just a case of standardising on one set of components / electronics. Headline rubbish.... The 85 has as much go as is necessary for any UK road and will fly along at speed with the greatest of ease. I wonder if in reality there is any difference at all???

Much of the gain in bhp is lost owing to the added weight of the 4x4 system... The Cross 4x4 has always had 5bhp more than other Pandas - except the last of the diesels, where it was 95bhp in both 'regular' and Cross 4x4

Hi Pandabloke
Who is your local (near Deal ) dealer?. I bought my 4x4 from Lipscombe Aylesford they were OK.

Amused to see that they are advertising a pre-reg Waze 4x4 as "Save £3500 on new". when it was presumably registered when the manufacturer-backed "4x4 for the same price as a 2x4" offer was in train.

Surely they should be reported to trading standards for that?

Shows that it loses electric door mirrors, has cheaper seat covers, what looks like a plastic (rather than leather-covered) steering wheel......

Also, interestingly, has the 'older style' speedo (where mph is on the outer ring). My 2018 4x4 has a the newer style where the MPH figures are nearer the centre of the dial and the kmh are around the outside. This means I can see the '50' mark - on my older Panda that was hidden behind the steering wheel rim if I set the wheel at a comfortable height for my driving position.

I have seen a post offer price for the Waze 4x4 of 15430 which is more than a std 4x4 but less than a cross. Thames have some pretty poor advertising standards. The pictures posted are not the cars being sold for example. Its not worth looking at the web site and hence I would no longer consider them regardless of the price offered!

Just had a call this morning to say my Panda Waze 4x4 is being delivered to dealership tomorrow. I ordered it on 2nd February so not bad at all. Cannot wait!

I suspect you have a new Panda with uConnect radio? If so, the voice control button on the steering wheel only works if the radio is turned on... and if you only have the one USB socket (on top of dash) I think that only acts as a power socket, not a way of connecting a USB device. (I assume Fiat think everyone will use Bluetooth to play music form their phone, rather than the 'old fashioned way' of putting music on a USB stick.) My 2018 4x4 has two USB sockets, one in the glove box and one on dash top by phone cradle. The glovebox one was dropped on the very newest models. Using the Panda uConnect phone app marginally improves music access to playlists etc.

Single USB socket is a data socket and plays fine from a USB stick. CHarging is not up to it so I use the power socket.

Offer is on again - 4x4 for £12,380, says now for ordering between 01/07/19 and 30/09/19 and registering by 31/12/19. On UK website - offers - Waze.

But this time, there's a further chunk of money off it, via Affinity - £11,080.

Still cheap, even after you've paid the extra for the yellow paint :D (y)
