Hi

Total newbie here looking at a used 2015 Panda 4x4 Twinair with 65000 miles on the clock. Not too fussed in principle at a high mileage as it's got a full Fiat main dealer service history and sometimes having a car that's been used is better than older one with low mileage. Don't know what the car was used for as have no contact with the previous owner. We generally hold onto cars until they stop working but don't do massive mileages 8k/year so would be hoping to keep for a good while

It will come with a 12 month Autoprotect warranty but that's on claiming the cost of any works up to a maximum of £1000 per claim and only eligible items. Also not seeing great reviews for them in claims handling

Having looked around the forum am I correct that the Twinair seems pretty robust and that mileage shouldn't be an issue? Possibly worth getting the timing chain changed as it can stretch but not sure at what mileage that might be important?

I've read about dual mass flywheel problems so guess there's a chance that could come along in the future but which models have that? Is there a surefire way of knowing as read different comments on the web

Are there any other things to look out for on a Twinair 4x4 at this sort of age and mileage?

Thoughts please :)

Thanks all

Mart

My 13-plate 4x4 TA is approaching 70,000 miles. Had replacement battery and resealing of rear transmission cover under warranty when a few months old. Replaced battery recently in - unsuccessful - hope of reviving Stop/Start. Serviced every 12 months. Still lots of miles in first replacement set of tyres. Done eleven trips to and from our Italian home with no issues, 3,500+ miles per trip. 42-ish mpg - much better in warm weather.

What's not to like?

If car you're looking at a 65 plate in a very rare shade of blue for £6995 I'd want a picture of service book emailing before I chose to drive down there and look at it. I'm on my second 4x4, was 23 months old. Had a lot of service/wear and tear stuff in 8 months. And mine done 35k now. My previous 4x4 was due brakes, tyres, major service and an expensive air con repair at 4 years old/29k.

That's the cost of owning a car admittedly but depends why you need a TA 4x4. As I found a 1 year old 1.2 Pop for £5800. The TA can be thirsty. I'm looking at late 20's mpg this tankfull. But it's fun. And I live in the country with standing water, not particularly warm part of the UK at top of a hill in a cul de sac. I'd regret going back to a 1.2.:)
