Wheel/tire sizes Fiat Panda. (typ 312/319)

I start this thread for general information purpose.
Like many maybe know, i play around with a lot of wheels and tire sizes for the last 14 months under my Panda.
And today that playing around ends by knowing what fits and what not.
So, what do fit 100% without problems:

175/65R14" on 5.5Jx14" offset/ET35.
185/55R15" on 6.0Jx15" offset/ET35.
195/45R16" on 6.5Jx16" offset/ET35.

These tire sizes wil work even with Offset/ET numbers "max 5 down" and "max 3 up".

So what does not fit, most i tested fit but with rubbing signs, a lot on left rear, less on right rear.
Although you not hearing the rubbing (rubber on plastic) the tracks are there to witness.

So what does fit but rubs:

225/40R16" on 7.0Jx16" offset/ET31.
215/40R16" on 7.0Jx16" offset/ET31.
205/50R15" on 6.5Jx15" offset/ET32.

So back on what i have.

Winter wheels: 6.5Jx15" offset/ET32 with 205/50R15" tires, they show signs of rubbing.
Solution for 100% free rubbing, 185/55R15" tires.

Summer wheels: 7.0Jx16" offset/ET31 with 215-225/40R16" tires, they show bigger signs of rubbing.
Solution for 100% free rubbing, 205/45R16" tires.

Cheers,

Re: Wheel/tire sizes Fiat Panda. (typ 312/319)

I'm thinking of putting 195/50 (on 6J rims with 35 offset) on mine. Does anyone know if this works?

Thanks.

195 on 6J could be tricky on the inside.

Hi,
You say:-
These tire sizes wil work even with Offset/ET numbers "max 5 down" and "max 3 up".

Can understand the max up 3 as this will decrease rear clearance, but I would appear to be well under arches with stock wheels so was going to come down 10-15mm.

Know will be some other effects to steering.

Regards

Yes meaning, 5 down is ET30 and 3 up ET38.

According to an online wheel/tyre calculator, this combination will be 6.4mm wider (each side) than the current set-up. Where would you expect interference, front or rear? I chose the 35 offset as it's still standard and didn't think going up one size of tyre over the size fitted to the original (optional) alloys would cause a problem. What offset would you recommend for this tyre?

Thanks, Wool.

It could be tricky at the left rear, for some reason there is less space then right rear.
A 195 tire sits wide on a 6J wheel, so the edge of the tire tread/wall could rub on the inside plastic when there is extensive suspension travel. (see my pictures)
At the front there is space enough for up to 225/40R16" tires on a 7jx16" ET31 wheel.
If necessary you could instal spacers for reducing the offset.

Thanks for the very useful information. I hadn't considered that problem would be at the rear! As I rarely carry passengers in the rear, nor carry heavy loads, i think I shall give them a try. I'm going for the 195 on a 6J to give some protection to the rims from kerb damage, as found the 185 on the optional alloys VERY vunerable. As you said, if necessary I can fit spacers, as they wouldn't have to be very thick to restore the clearance.

Thanks again, Wool.

Instead of going for a 195 tire you can look for a tire with rim protection, not all tires have them.
Tires with rim protection gave a little more protection in case of curbs.
