ok , I'm aware that the coloured surround doesn't actually come away from the dash . If I wanted it painted is this doable without removing the entire dash or do you think a garage would be able to do it still in car???

Couls always get it wrapped. That way when you sell car you can return to standard

It is not that difficult to dismantle it from the dash. ;)

WHAT! I Thought it was established that it was non removable!?!? Even the dealers said so lol

See here: https://www.fiatdalys.lt/en/catalog...1870/ZFA31200003210975/0/0/0/instrument-panel - which shows dash without the panel, and then here for the panel as a separate part https://www.fiatdalys.lt/en/catalog...1870/ZFA31200003210975/0/0/0/instrument-panel

If you view the images (on my Mac, right-clicking the picture lets me do this), they open up much bigger (see this: https://www.fiatdalys.lt/diagrams/0B/0BE72E557166D99F4034AD6432610475.png) , and you can then see that it looks like the panel is held by spring clips. (I need to try and remove mine to find what's rattling behind it. not had the courage to try yet!, so let me know how you get on)

So if I read that diagram correctly, it's held on by no fewer than 20 clips, 4 screws and 3 pins ... and it's €343 for a new one if you mullah it. You first! :D

Can of spray paint.
No responsibility taken.
What's the problem?:D

You can assume I'm happy with the way my Panda looks so I could be considered a loose cannon in this discussion

As I said, hoping someone else can try first! I have a dreadful rattle form my dash, which can be stopped by just 'resting' a hand on the top, between the demist grille and the silver trim. I think its something in the heating system's plastic parts, as it only happens once the heater is warm. And it only does it at about 1500 rpm - which is, guess what, 30mpg in 4th (MJ engine) or about 45-50 in fifth. Not gone to the dealer as now into third year warranty and don't think they'll play ball. but I will if it gets worse. For now, took radio out but couldn't access anything 'useful', and also removed glovebox and looked up from there. Both these are easy to remove and replace. The silver trim panel though looks much more of a challenge...

Two of ours have a plastic dash rattle, though it's more of a plastic knocking.

One sounds worse than the other and on the Lounge you can shut it up by pressing against the head unit slightly, the Pop is far worse and carries around the car quite badly, but that one doesn't respond to the same push or the head unit.

It's not a major issue as they both shut up once warm air comes out of the vents, so I presume it's a heater pipe, when cold they might be catching the back of the head unit or something around there, but once warm it might have expanded and jammed it's self against something.

My 4x4 TA doesn't seem affected, or maybe it is, but the engine Grrrr drowns it out!

I've had a look up under the dash, but you can see nowt of the top part of the dash.
Keep meaning to remove the head unit and have a look, but the weather puts me off fiddling at the moment.

I took the head unit out - and no, can't see much from there either! I really want to see up above the central face vents... On mine, the noise gets worse as the heater gets warmer. Pressing the radio fascia or very lightly on top of the dash stops it, but only while you press. It does sound like a piece of plastic rattling and yes I assume its something in the plumbing.
