Re: Twinair near stalling at idle

For what it's worth, mine does exactly the same and makes the same noise when cold and I am sure there's nothing wrong with it. Cold starts are just like that and if it all settles down OK when it's warm, you shouldn't need to worry about it. I certainly don't!

Twinair near stalling at idle

Mine does the same, often accompanied by pops and bangs from the exhaust. Dealer had it over a week and couldn't find fault or replicate it happening. It's done over 10k and it's still (it started happening after about 5k) there so I don't buy what Fiat are telling you.

Re: Twinair near stalling at idle

FWIW I had a cold start / idling issue just recently when the wrong grade of oil was used, it was fine after a few blips on the throttle but definitely not happy initially. Car was filled with 5w40 instead of 0W30 which it should have been for a euro 6 car. If your car is euro 5 then you need to ensure the exact grade of 5w40 oil is used, maybe not the problem here but worth checking if your car has had a recent oil change

Re: Twinair near stalling at idle

Mine did this this morning. Fired up as usual (minus 1.5 degrees outside), ran like a bucket of bolts, didn't respond to a prod of the right pedal and cut out

Re-started and all was well. Car is a month old, done just under 450 miles and never had this issue before, despite colder temps.

Will keep an eye on it

Mine does it too the odd time when very cold, it's as if the uniair module is a bit sticky when cold despite using 0w oil now

The 500 never did it in 2.5 years / c25k miles. Will monitor it.

Perhaps it's a Euro 6 trait, running a bit leaner on start up or whatever. Mine does clear when you blip it though. I wouldn't worry about it too much unless it gets worse

Re: Twinair near stalling at idle

Cheers

Other than that, running very well. Used zero oil in 450 miles.

Typical journey is 16 miles a day, 80% on the motorway, 10% on 60 mph back roads & 10% urban.

Only 33.3mpg average from new though, a good 10 down on the 500

Got some legal Green Laneing lined up soon

Re: Twinair near stalling at idle

I had a stall at idle but I was trying out the heated windscreen on a cold morning.

It does seem a little unsure of itself on first turn of the key but it's only been driven half a dozen times though it has just clocked up 600miles!

Very happy with the overall performance and mpg is in the 40's.

Almost like carb icing.... And that used to mess fuel consumption up too.

Re: Twinair near stalling at idle

So far no cold running/starting issues but I have to say that the Cross makes the most amazing range of noises when moving off from cold. It whines, whirs and warbles for the first 500 yards and then normal TA service is resumed. Not bothered in any way about it, rather characterful to be honest👍

All the parts have arrived bar the fog light and surround which is due in at the end of this week, hopefully Po will be pristine again early March. Good job the Cross remained driveable seeming as it T boned the Nissan Puke in early December😧
