After seeing the panda trailer on ebay it got me thinking on how cool it would be to have one  I know it wouldn't be unique but would make a good talking point.

So after suggesting it to my dad and being very suprised he not telling me I'm stupid or mad, like most of my other ideas! I am going to try and make one. Or failing that get one made for me.

I will be looking for a rolling shell panda that I can cut in half. A ready cut one would be ideal but not very easy to find

How hard can it be? :chin:

Anyone help, advice appreciated (y)

a 4x4 would make a better trailer, as it got better suspension

i'm not so sure... the end of the omega axle thing is a pretty good place to well a hitching point. If you use the 4x4 rear end you've got to manufacture that area.

Yes Gaz, go for it. Wish I had the space to entertain something like this. However, for the best effect it needs to be done well.

In the past I have seen several Mini vans with matching trailers and also a Morris 1000. In the case of the Mini's, where they had just taken a disk cutter, hacked the back off a Mini and welded a tow bar to it, it looked b****y awful.

Where they had cut the back from a Mini and then styled it to match, both design wise and paintwork wise, it looked brilliant.

Look forward to seeing the results.

The trailer on ebay is 4x4 but it not cut from the b-pillar, they have left part of the door. I am thinking it got to do somehing with the suspension

I am thinking just cut just in front of the b-pillar and weld on a flat sheet of metal. Maybe add a window so I could see when I reversing with it.

The hitching point is worrying me, as I havent seen a panda cut in two, I cannot imagine how it would be fixed

well as i sent gaz, i did a photoshop of the panda, well mine

chopped the front of and just cut the engine bay area out

isnt good tbh but it was ahrd lol

How about cutting it about 10 cm down from the windscreen. Breaks the front top edge up then, gives it more aerodynamics lol! More room and no suspension worries then either (y) Then you just have to weld the doors in place and cut away any unneccessary bits of the insides of the doors, and weld a sheet onto the front! Jobs a gooden.

I just noticed on that pic it includes the doors. I dont want doors. It means more to weld up and paint

Wheels would be too far back & put too much weight on the towbar. The rear wheels need to be pretty central for it to work.

How would it fair with just the weight from the b-pillar back.
