Re: Just started and could do with some 4x4 help.

So in the sun the colour change continues. Mirror looking better now and the rest of the side trim clips fitted. Not sure if it was the paint thickness or the clips but had to put a small cut in the point to get the pin to go all the way through.

Trim goes on.

Here’s the one that was broken. Looking much better.

Front and rear glass refitted. Admit I had some professional help just in case. Thank you D700SKX for your donation may you rest in peace.

Plan is to make it as waterproof as possible so I can get on with the interior if the weather goes downhill.
Now I will do a write up just on the lift kit later but here’s the rear shackles ready to fit.

Lube the new bushes.

Then fit the springs.

Nice new bushes in the front and new bolts.

Decided to fit the back axel so I have some floor space in the garage.

Filled with new oil first!
Going in well!

Nice fit!

Rather useful tool loaned from a good friend. Means I don’t need another pair of hands.

Think I have created a monster?

Its going to be taller than the Land Rover when the wheels go on?

Some new seals on the front vents.

Tight fit!

Satin coat for these I think?

Lots of parts to the front aerial fitting… Think that might be going to the rear?

Fitted some more duct tape to the top rail and fitted the trim (coat of gold for blingness) with a mallet.

Interior is ready!
Hope to post some pics tomorrow.

Re: Just started and could do with some 4x4 help.

Patience is a virtue?
Welcome round any time.
If it wasn’t for work I’d finish the build in a few days but then I couldn’t afford the next stage.
I will get some all over shots towards the weekend as tasters.
Alternator pully is doing my head in at the moment. Think I will need a spacer or I have to machine the alternator mating faces. Not serious but as the parts are all FIRE compatible cant see why the belt has a 5mm offset. Will shove some pics up just in case they supplied the wrong pulley.

Re: Just started and could do with some 4x4 help.

Vee belt can be a little out but a grooved pulley should be lined up. With a straight edge

So its a Punto Mk1 1.2 8V alternator and Pulley.

Not the best images but the belt is looking stressed as the alternator seems to be about 5mm more forward of the pulley.

Given the mass of the pulley I'm not keen on a shim behind the pulley.

Face here parallel to the block.

Allowing 2.5mm for the belt edge to the alternator pulley face gives me 4.5mm offset (negative) on the main pulley.

In my head the alternator needs to come back a bit...

I know 4 groves are tough but this looks like a failure awaiting a date.

Alternator. Use a 4pk belt not 5 then off set the belt by a groove Air intake. ??? Reversed. Or intentional

Re: Just started and could do with some 4x4 help.

You may want a Panda SPI crank pulley, that has the crank sensor ring on the inside so may give the right alignment. Just a guess though. The belt will not last long as it is.

Regret is a 4 already.
Intentional - Think forced air will have little effect...probably more dead bugs...
