Hi can anyone tell me the correct igntion timing setting for my Panda. We are doing a charity sponsored car fixing weekend and I have forgotton to take my handy Porters 4x4 manual!

5 degrees BTDC with vacuum disconnected.

Thanks we tried to do it at around that mark but couldn't get the car to idle at 800 properly once we had disconnected and plugged the vacuum. wondering if a slight leak at the manifold is causing this or whether other people have had the same trouble?

you need to disconnect the vac pipe from the dizzy and block it off then adjust the tick over to 850rpm and then you can set the timing. my book says 2deg btdc once you have set it reconnect the vac pipe and reset the tickover mine "pink's" when set at 2deg though my mate at fiat told me to set it at 0deg which I have and the pinking has gone.

Thanks alot fyi, will try that once I put the manifold right think I am losing gas from there which isn't helping.

as above, mine pinks like mad if you actually try and run it at where the book says. Use the factory setting as a starting point then tweak until it runs right. Reckon they just don't make petrol like they used to in the good ol days
