Hi Everyone,
I have found this site through research and i hope that someone out there can help me as i need urgent help with a huge problem.
I have 2014 Panda with full service history and 36 thousand miles on the clock.
Its immaculate.
The ECU has decided to shake a 7 and die(n). I have had it professionally tested at ECU Testing near Derby (UK) and they have confirmed it is beyond economical repair.
I want to know what options i have please?
New, Second hand, refurb and whats involved.
Are there other bits that would need to be replaced?

Any help please?

Kind Regards,
Makpik.

Hi, thanks for replying so quickly.
I work shifts so it is difficult to reply.
We have been getting codes P0300, 301,302,303,304. ALL to do with misfiring.
It has had new plugs, new HT leads, new coil pack.
But the engine light comes on intermittently and clears after 20 seconds
You can set off again and wait and normal driving is okay, or it will go into limp mode and slow down. Its a bit scary in the M1 with no hard shoulder....
The code clears easily by a proper mechanics reader, not the cheap ebay ones.
I was that desperate to get it sorted I borrowed my Fathers car to take it to Heanor ECU testing.
The result was they couldn't communicate with the ECU, (I gave them the codes), to find out exactly what is going on. So it has come back as BER.....

I'd say if the tester couldn't communicate with the ECU then the car wouldn't run at all or give any fault codes.

I had similar symptoms a few years ago (on the twinair mind) which turned out to be a primary lambda sensor failure not helped by using non Selenia oil.

No communication..

Just the ECU..on a bench

Or still in the car??

Which engine..obviously petrol ;)

Do you know the cars history.. no clutch changes.. floodwater issues..etc

The car is at home , I took the ecu off and took it down to Derby.
I have had the car 3 years, we are the second owners.
It does 6 to 8 miles a day and is kept under a car port out of the rain and it hasn't been through flooded water.
It has recently been serviced, new water pump, new belt... etc...and has been running like it always has, smooth proper little sewing machine, but 1 month after the service, we have been getting intermittent engine management light, some times solid, sometimes flashing.
Even after 20seconds of turning off and on it clears..
Totally baffling

Hi.
There is a relay in the underbonnet fuse box that if faulty can cause exactly what you describe. Now I stumbled across this as I swapped a faulty heater fan relay with another relay and landed up with exactly the same issue, this was on my 2014 lounge but for the life of me I cannot remember what one I swapped it with. The car would only run after clearing the code until the swapped relay started going funny. Swapping back all was well with the exception of intermittent heater operation. A new relay cured the issue.
