Hello,

I have a 2006 fiat punto grande 1.4 and last week had the above issue. Called RAC and on reseating fuse box 0lugs car cleared faults and started. Following day would not start and was told it was a BCM issue by rac. I replaced the BCM, ECU, Keys, ignition barrel and transponder on the ignition barrel and still have the same issue.
Has anyone had this before and could help me before i vet it towed to an auto electrician.

Many thanks

Hi. If its a grande..

SEARCH for .. 'BSI'

Are you 100% sure its not just a lost earth.. or poor connection.

Is the car new to you?

Charlie

Hello Charlie,

Had the car 8 months. Searched for bsi and it's the same as the bcm.
I connected a jump lead to earth and the negative terminal and nothing. Pushed all plugs and fuses and still nothing.
Am completely lost

if you replaced ecu set and it still the same, then its something else, did you check all earths?

Sounds like a blown maxifuse to me ...

Have you checked them ?
Does the engine cranck at all?
Where have you cable-jumped the earth, body, gearbox, both ?

hi
have you done a diagnosis? What fault code you have?

if you replace the ecu and the bsi with a "new" working one and still have
trouble, it is broken wire... :)

At first power-on, the ECUs, instruments and immobiliser chip are permanently locked together. You cannot just fit a new component** without fitting a complete new set at great expense. The systems are generally very reliable so I suspect the RAC gave you a bum steer.

**immobiliser chips can be cloned.
