Hi there all.

Just join today. I have bought a Fiat 850 Coupe about two weeks ago which has no docs or is licenced in South Africa. The Identification Plate in the engine bay is missing. What I want to know is their any other place in or under the car where you could find the VIN/Chassis number? I do have the Engine number though. Many thanks Bennie.

Hi. And welcome.
What age / era is the car...?

The 'other FIATs' section of the forum has covered many of these issues over time. Charlie

It is from the 1968 to 1970 era and is about 48 years old. It is the second shape with the 4 lights in the front. I think it is a 1969 model Fiat Sport 850. Many thanks Bennie.

The North American version of the 850 Spider owner's handbook shows it on top of the dashboard inside the windscreen, and on the left side door pillar.

Fiat often stamps the chassis number/VIN in the floor to the outside of one of the front seats. I don't know if the were doing that in the 1960s/70s though.
