hello all, ive just joined the site, ive done alot of reading on the in the past....ive got a twinair duellogic gearbox....today i was driving it in manual mode and kept jumping out of gear!! ive been driving it in auto now and it seems ok...has anyone had this issue before?

Re: newbie fiat 500 twinair gearbox jumping out of 1st!

i did a test drive on the car today and it seems to only do it under load in 1st gear....if i pull off very gently its ok but if i accelerate too quickly it it pops out of gear....it remains in 1st gear and does no go into neutral when this happens....any ideas please;)??

Hi.
Its essentially a manual gearbox. With a 'robot' working the clutch and gearchanges

So.. youve either got a mechanical reason for this... worn mounts. Loose parts. Worn gearbox..

Or its a control issue - I suspect in AUTO it limits the torque to a greater degree than being 'locked' into 1 gear.

How many miles on the car?

Charlie . Oxford

EDIT. Re reading this you are saying it loses drive..
but display still says 1 rather than N

Is that correct?

hi charlie, thanks for your reply....yes it stays in 1st gear(on the dashboard reading) when this happens and its as if its only partially engaged in 1st the same as anyone who has driven a manual and not quite fully engaged 1st gear and pulls off... !the car has 70K on the clock..cheers rob

hi, thanks for relies....i have taken it to a local diagnostic company who have said there is nothing showing on the scan(£120) and has recommended local gearbox specialist take a look...they say the gearbox needs to be removed to find the problem....anywhere between £750 min to £1500:rolleyes:been advised rather to repair original box....is this about rite? cheers rob

Read the thread fully and you wouldn't be asking these questions.

The diagnostic scan...
Were they simply scanning for error codes..? or did they actuslly try and recalibrate the system?

hi, they were looking for any faults/errors when they did the scan....but nothing...when i took it to the gearbox people....they did not test drive the car,but said the gearbox needs to be removed! i may need to try and take it to fiat for a 2nd opinion, but they have a month waiting list!!

You want a FIAT/alfa specialist.

Half of fiat delears appear to be multifranchise 'popupshops'..
No background..limited experience.. an alfa indy will have been dealing with this for 20 years.

Where is the car located?
Somebody on here...or the duologic thread can probably recommend somebody.

Half the battle is using the correct fluid..and then recalbrating the system correctly.

But the OP won't read the thread...
