as per the title.
Looking for a battery for the multi (55 plate, nose jobby)current battery is an 027 ( appears that the earlier ones took a larger 096, which wont fit the newer models)
OK, so checked out Euro car parts, and their prices are £85.99 (apparently reduced from a whopping £111.41) for a 'lion' brand 027 with a 3 year warranty.
Thought this a bit steep for a 'cheap branded battery' so went online elsewhere.
Found the same 'Lion battery 027' from a company called 'carpartssaver' who were advertising it at a price of just £44.71 almost HALF Euro's PRICE, including free delivery (48hour) and a 3 year warranty. OK, I thought, will go for this, when I went to pay, it appears that 'carpartsaver' is actually 'carparts4less' which again, is actually......guess who??
Well, errr, Euro car parts......no less!!
So, Euro car parts want £85.99 in their 'shop' (but dont have it in stock, but can get it in 2 days) but are selling it through a 'shell' company 'carpartsaver, who is really 'carpartsforless' that is REALLY 'Euro car parts!!

Confused, you bet the hell I am...

Carpartsaver trading as 'carparts4less, trading as Eurocarparts??
carpartsaver can supply for £44.71, and deliver free of charge by Tuesday, and Eurocarparts want £85.99 but cant get it for me to collect until Tuesday??

Rippoff or WHAT??

And I thought Halfrauds was bad!!!:bang:

The eBay page is likely a lot of returns e.g wrong item's sent out and returned

Allthrough I'd personally go for a better brand of battery

Erm, no surprises there, just a case of doing your homework. Thing with sending away for batteries, is if you have to exchange for some reason, bit of a fanny about. Halfords are fine if you have a trade card.

I very rarely buy stuff from ECP these days. If they have an item listed in their ebay store, almost invariably you'll find the self-same part in the ebay carpartssaver shop for a couple of quid less. Added to that, the staff at my local branch aren't the most helpful souls you could ever meet.

The product selection/choice offered on Autodoc blows everything else into the weeds. If you can live with the delivery pricing and lead times, it's the place to go. Added to that, they give all of the manufacturers parts numbers/specs/details for an item - something that ECP invariably hide. That's another reason I don't like them.

I've just bought a Varta battery for my son's Fiesta from Tayna batteries. Competitive pricing (around half that being asked by ECP!) and safely delivered. It's a beast of a battery btw; I reckon you could start the QE2 with it. Why a 1.4TDCi needs something that big is beyond me!

Was going to get a 'brand name' but just came across the 'difference' between the same company charging exhorbitant price, yet claiming to be the best prices around.
Again, found a Bosch S4005 battery, £82 with free delivery, from Advanced Battery Supplies, yet ECP, same thing, priced £149 'special price' as was £174!!!
I have used Advanced Battery Supplies before, and they are literally next day delivery if ordered before 3pm, and customer service is 5*.
Trouble with ECP is they are a bunch of 'chancers' in the 2 stores nearest to me, and will give you all sorts of B/S rather than be 'honest' (they literally called me a 'liar' to my face when I told them I could get the same product at 1/2 the price with free delivery, until I showed them the receipt I had for the item!!)

Was just using their prices as an example of the 'rip off prices' they try to claim are the 'best and cheapest around'

There are many many , much better suppliers, who are really top notch, that blow places like ECP, and Halfords and 'GSF' out of the water, with both their prices, and their customer service. The B/S these firms try to pass off to you is unbelievable...

Probably go for the Bosch from Advanced, as best price for that battery methinks...

The Halfords trade card is well worth having. I find there are quite large savings to be made on car repair related parts as long as they are Halfords branded (like batteries, service items etc) Not so good on accessories particularly if they are "Techie" stuff. I always get them to check the price before committing to buying. Very handy on a Sunday when everyone else is shut and you've just run out of brake fluid half way through bleeding the brakes! They don't hold good stocks of the sort of repair parts you would find on the shelf at the factors though (track rod ends, shock absorbers, suspension arms, etc) They also do some quite good quality tools if you stick to their "professional and "advance" brands and you get the discount with your card.

Bosch and Varta are owned by the same company and the battery internals for most of their offerings (comparing like-for-like battery group size codes) are the same. It's worth looking up the exact model numbers for both makes, then shopping around. Sometimes there's quite a difference in the price.

Well Halfords get there car parts delivered by Euros so basically the same

Know a few people had good things to say about there local Andrew pages allthrough it wasnt really a service for the general public
At least till they went under and got taken over by gsf/euros

Tried to get one of these cards before but the local store were a bit troublesome with wanting prrof of employment or something like that to qualify

That was going to be my next question: How do you get a Halfords trade card?
The clue's in the name really - "Trade". They gave me a bit of a grilling, just at the front desk. I was able to supply the name of two of the garages I'd worked for - don't think they checked up on it though, but what seemed to finally convince them was when I was able to produce a fistful of receipts from the factor I normally buy from which, luckily, were in the boot of my car.

Quite honestly though I find the prices just as good, if not better, at the local factor. It's just nice to have Halfords as a "just in case back up".

I got a card via the local store. Once you have got one you don't let it go. They also price match online price's for the same item in store. So just print off the battery deal and they will match it, so you can take it away there and then. Again never had a problem with that.
