recently received my 2005 eleganza from fiat dealer for service and they stated, a needed replacement of a front wishbone at £350> Now boot not opening. dealer says probably microswitch and would cost £80 with a warning that panel damage might be caused because they would have to open the boot closed ? Help ?

Hi James, Welcome to the FF.

There shouldn't be any panel damage. According to the owners handbook, there's an emergency tailgate opening lever on the lock.

Dave.

Just had my n/s front wishbone done at a local (trustworthy) independent garage.

I quote from their invoice: "Supply and fit replacement nearside lower suspension arm, check and adjust front wheel alignment £52.50 + £52.50 for suspension arm. Total including vat £120.17."

A quote of £350 seems excessive, even from a FIAT dealer.

There are alot of really cheap crap suspension arms in motorfactors, we have had a few cars come in with problems and found these "new" parts fitted by "specialists" to be causing the problem. £350 seems alot but would expect around £200.

Thanks for the Pic Davren. It's an old post but without it I couldn't have opened the boot.

Now I know I can do that I'll wait untill it is less snowy to hang about taking the microswitch apart!

Cheers,
Steve

Yeah, that microswitch is a real, 'How much??!!!' at the dealers. Took mine apart a couple of years ago and a few squirts of contact cleaner have had it working fine since. Good luck!

Boot won't open on multipla

My microswitch failed just over a year ago.
It's on my to-do (maybe..sometime) list

Don't the new ones open with the key?

Heyup
My tailgate microswitch has also packed up and is on my to-do list. Does anyone know whether the microswitch from the original shape Multi would fit into my 2004 new shape. Even if the handle is a different fitting I could take the microswitch out of the old one into mine. There are some excellent instructions on this site entitled "Multipla boot lock - it's permanently locked !" (soz can't put a link, it's locked down for newbies)

By the way the old Multiplas have a normal door-lock which is opened with the ignition key but the new shape doesn't . There is a little metal lug down on the left hand side of the lock accessed from inside the boot. It's easy to get to if you fold the rear driver's side seat forward.

Thanks in advance...

OMRON D2HWBL302MR, sub-miniature, pin-plunger, SPDT-NO, wire leaded.

Just fitted this to mine.

Not as wide as the 'burgess' micro-switch (which is unavailable/ custon-for-fiat). Pack out the housing clip with a piece of zip tie as a shim. The locating posts on the back are in the wrong place-just cut them off, snap the housing together and it sits just fine. Splice the wires, solder and shrink. Re-assemble and it works. Total cost from Farnell £8.76 inc VAT and shipping. Boo ya!

I know this is an old topic, but I also had a broken tailgate switch and wanted to update this thread.

After removing the switch from the plastic enclosure, I replaced it with an Omron D2HWBL203MR (very similar to previous post) from Farnell, which is a direct fit if you cut off one plastic post at the bottom.

Since the plastic surround of my switch is on the way out, I also ordered a cheap Fiat Doblo tailgate switch assembly (51829929).
I can't post a link yet but they can be found on ebay and aliexpress for around 10-15 euro and look to be a direct swap.
