They’re from a guilietta. The tpms is fine as they are exactly the same size as the cross plus wheels

TPMS works on speed difference of all four wheels, nothing to do with any particular size.

It’s the rolling circumference of the wheels as the tpms on a 500x is done through the traction control.

What tyres did you fit on those new 18 rims?

They look like they have a Rim Protector not that these are always successful.

I'm just nearing having to replace my front Michelin Pilot Sport 3 (as fitted by Fiat) and from many years of experience dropping from a *Premium* lose your arm/wallet to a more modest option can actually be better and save you money. If not better still save you money.

I won't go into better because I have my own personal standards and acceptability and this is backed by normal road use and over 6K miles of track/sprinting experience (but sadly not in recent times)

They’re the factory Bridgestone turanza’s, same size wheel somjust swapped the tyres over. The Alfa wheels are a tiny bit wider than the 500x ones but the tyres were still fine

The original fit tyres on mine are Goodyear Eagle F1's. Never had a bad moment with them, and they do have rim protectors. I swapped fronts to rears at about 15,000 miles, now done 20,000 and I reckon I'll get close to 30,000 out of them. Haven't checked prices, but I'm guessing the Goodyears will be similar to other "premium" brands.
The wheels look good, the colour really suits the car.

...and me! Seems there's far too much unexplored tech on cars these days - unexplored by the manufacturer and we the end-user are the unfortunate Beta Testers, usually at our expense!

You can only reset successfully when stopped so after mine's come on (most days) I hope for a red light long enough to spend the 5 secs resetting again.

I had turanza's on the old 2010 500 diesel and they do seem to last a long time. Done 15k miles on them and they still had about 4-5mm left, a bit more on the back than the front which you would expect. The sister in laws got it now and I reckon she'll get another 10k out of them.

I'm using Michelin CrossClimate+ on my 500x and they are superb.

Agreed, our other car has them (without the "+"). Unfortunately they don't seem to be available for the 18" wheels on my 500X yet. Michelin list the correct size, but with no price or "buy now" option. Hopefully they will be around by the time I have to change.

I've decided that I'll be replacing the Michelin Pilot Sports with Nexen Nfera SU1s 225/45 18 95Y.

The are reasonable priced and have rim protectors. I say reasonably priced as my local tyre shop used to give me near trade prices (as in cost to them) when I was doing motorsport and shredding loads of rubber. Now I just get a reasonable discount and the SU1s will cost me £82.50 each, fully fitted including disposal charge. Still got 3.5mm of tread on the fronts so I suspect the price will creep up a little when I come to fit.

Will report back when done.

I had them on my kuga which was 4x4 and they were hopeless in the wet and snow. That was however low profile on 19” wheels with 180bhp.

Come home and forgot I ordered these bolt covers. Match really well the colour of the wheel

Tyres are a complete lottery for many reasons. One of the major reasons is "compliance". This is a harmony of suspension spring rates & stiffness, damper stiffness bound and rebound characteristics, tyre sizes and geometry including weight distributions and loadings.

My advice to anyone would be if you are satisfied with what Fiat fitted then go the same (only lasts for a few years whilst tyre still available). Going alternative you do take a risk. You could be better or worse off regardless of price.

Apart from Pirelli P600s (showing my age and I just wished they made them still) I've not discovered a premium brand that is worth the up to (or more) double the price difference over a top/high end middle of the road brand (often made by or under license from a premium manufacturer.)

I base my opinion on having run 4 cars at a time, now 3 and 45+ years.

Biggest mistake were the Goodyear Eagle F1 tyres on our Strada Abarth. Supposedly excellent tyres but turned out to be "Torvill and Dean" tyres and from our point of view "I hope you know how to recover a car from an *unexpected* 45 degrees slip angle and sideways excursion". Thankfully the boss (wife) also an experienced motorsport operative beautifully recovered and controlled the event. Tyres were immediately sold and replaced.

I'll research / dig a little more but SU1s are top of my list at this time and we'll see what transpires.

As I mentioned on another thread, I've found that Cross-Climate + are now available in our 18" size. Very happy with them on our other car, although they are 50 profile on that. As you say, the interaction between tyres and suspension can cause any number of variations.

Those Alfa wheels are a bit of an indulgence, but they certainly look better than the originals - those remind me of the wheels on really cheap rubbishy Corgi / Matchbox toy cars!

Incidentally, could we possibly have photos in the correct orientation?

Or are your tyres that grippy that you can drive and park vertically?
