Panda 2012+ Buzz our Panda Cross.

Introduction

Starting this thread for Panda Mo as it will be more her car than mine, but she's not too well at the moment and wasn't able to pick up Buzz from the dealer today herself. Hopefully it won't be long before she's behind the wheel though, I know she can't wait!

I went to collect Buzz this afternoon in our Mk1 Panda 45 as most of the salesmen are a similar age to me and like to see the old stuff we have. Plus it was a good photo opportunity to have first and last Pandas together.

Buzz is a twinair. We've added the following options......

Reversing sensors.
Winter pack - Heated seats, windscreen and mirrors.
Passenger seat table.
Tropicalia yellow paintwork.

First trip was back to the workshop to fit some sill protectors......

It was very dark by now so no more pics until tomorrow.

Then it was another twenty miles home. First impressions are great. It seems more refined than I remember from the test drive in the demo, maybe we hit some bad surfaces that day.

Average mpg so far is 38, that's not bad considering I wasn't trying. To be honest if I'm driving I will rarely be trying, and the eco mode will definitely be off. So too will the stop start function :yuck:

I've found Buzz to be a lovely car to be in so far, good quality ride with a commanding driving position for a small car (should suit Barbara well). I like the twin air engine, great all round performance for such a small one, but I'm not sure I'll ever grow to like the 'comb and paper' noise it makes.

Looking forward to the next drive though. :D
Ah well it was good while it lasted. :p

Really I'm very pleased that Barbara's behind the wheel at last, she deserves something nice after a rough year. I'm happy commuting in our old Pandas, and I'm sure to be the one driving if we go anywhere in Buzz together.

I'm sure you'll find some fettling that needs doing to Buzz at the workshop every now and then too ;)

Bought Buzz a couple more prezzies.....

There seemed to be quite a choice of boot liners but I liked this one as it had the squarcles in the pattern as well as saying PANDA in the centre.

I've also bought some overmats, no pic yet, but will take one once they're fitted. :)

Where did you go shopping? A dealers? On-line?
What is the standard boot lining like?
Buzz is getting plenty O'Bling. I think there might be a healthy fight for your Buzz the day you sell him on.

Ha, I hope you're right!

The boot liner was on eBay, and I went back to the dealer for the overmats. They are not specific to the Cross but should be fine.

Instant additions for my Cross will be 4 x 4 mats, the boot liner, sill protectors, loga valve caps & the Panda paw print / Italian flag badges(y)

Got the B & M 2 Live Tom Tom ready to slot in too:D

I'm probably teaching my granny to suck eggs but..

Assuming these valves are metal ones- I've not heard of them before- be careful.

I had metal ones- great looking- put on my car and after leaving them for a couple of weeks found they got stuck. I can't remember how I got them released but never again.

Yep, boot liner and sill protectors for me too, already have the Panda paws and TTG. Due to predictably pathetic boot and courtesy lights I will also look into getting LED replacement bulbs. Did that on the Yeti and it made a huge difference. They appear to be standard barrel bulbs and there are oodles of LED replacements out there that play nicely with the electrics.

Fitted the mats and boot liner this morning......

Well that's about it for now, although previous posts have got me thinking about the satnav if one comes up cheap enough. Led bulbs could well be fitted too as I've had good results with the interior lights of the classic Pandas.

I've just ordered 3 led bulbs off Amazon. Originals appear to be 38x11 12v 10w Osrams (talking courtesy light here) not looked at the boot light yet. If all works well I'll report back.

That boot mat looks just the job, mine's on order.

Just be aware that if the panda's interior lights automatically dim, after closing the door, the LED ones won't work unless you turn them on manually (or that's what happened to my 500 one :( )

Good point Bob. This was the problem with Panto's interior light, I fitted an LED bulb along with a dimmer unit and the two wouldn't work together, so now he has an original old school bulb refitted.

Fingers crossed anyway, worth a try I think.

Well I gave Buzz his first wash today. He gets dirty much quicker than the classic Pandas do, and takes twice as long to clean too.

While I was cleaning the wheels I did think of something else I could do to him though :) - Paint the brake calipers red, Abarth style! They would also tie in well with the front towing hooks. (y)
