Hi everyone, first post on here so apologies if i've done this in the wrong place???

Anyway ive got a problem with what i thing is the gear selector cable on my GP 2008,

I was driving on a spine road changing form 4th to 5th when i heard a very slight knock sort of noise, went back into 4th to 5th to see if it happened again but all was fine, a few miles down the road i was turning at a roundabout in 2nd gear and went to change up to 3rd however it got stuck in 2nd, managed to park up outside my house.

Jacked the GP up and basically found nothing from the gear stick end, followed the two cables up to the gear box itself and looked like there was n damage or anything in the wrong place.. i can put it into 2nd and then cannot get it out, this is the same for putting it into 4th and the same fr putting it in reverse, so all the forward gears (1st, 3rd, 5th) there's nothing what so ever, gear stick just loose. worked out its not a clutch problem as when it was stuck in 2nd i could lift my foot off of the clutch sightly and the car would slowly move as it should do, any ideas on what this could be??? i seem to think its the gear selector cable but not having this problem before i couldn't be to sure, if it is the cable do i have to change both of them or just the one? any guides, help or advice would be very much appreciated. luckily i have the week off of work as pre tour leave before i go to afghanistan in a few weeks so kind of need it done before i deploy!! :bang:

how much should it cost for the cables if this is the problem? how easy is it to replace? id like to do it myself to keep the cost down as much as possible..
I've searched high & low to find out what to do exactly but thought the best point of contact would be the experts on here ! LOL.

Regards, Jack.
