Hi, ;)

Just introduce myself, I'm Jamie from PuntoSports.co.uk.

I've been to this site before, but never got round to registering.

I've got a FIAT Punto GT3. This is my 4th Punto, and I'm only 23!!

I used to have a MKI 55SX, then a MKII Sporting, then a MKII HGT, and now a MKI GT3. Something tells me I should consider getting another make. But hey, I luv em.

I've only had this GT3 since the begining of October, and I love it. Such fun. Its a mint one. 1998, 58K on the clock. Click through on the link below to see some more info and pics.

See you around. :)

not really. you will always get a reduction in relation to power being transmitted from fly to wheel. e.g. Tyres, Friction, Road Surface, Drive-Train etc. I'm not planning to alter the car at all.

some people do quite a lot to these sort of cars. but being honest these little engines put up with quite a bit already. Its running standard boost - 1.2 Bar, which is a lot. Believe me, its plenty.

Nice little sleeper! they look similar to a sporting to the untrained eye. Welcome to the forum (y)
Have a story about an identical lookin GT, When I first got the coupe, I had a prob with her, and basically it was takin her about 7-8 secs to limp to 60.
There's a moderately tuned GT knockin about mine, and I had raced him (and lost) a few times ! talk about gutted.
Anyway, I finally tracked the coops problem about 3 weeks ago, a faulty coil pack was at fault. Chipped her and a few other mods and was finally seeing sixty in just under 6 secs.
Went out hunting (Yes I'm sad) and found him on the way to rhyl last week. I was behind, He spots me in his rearview and gives it full welly (could tell by the plumes of smoke from his exhaust) and was slowly reeling him in. By 80 I was overtaking him (give him credit, most cars would look like they are going backwards by now) and at 100 he was well and truly behind.
I touched 120 and then began to wind it down, him now being a spec in the rearview! he eventually caught up and overtook. No matter, I had accomplished what I had gone out for! He had been slagging coupe's off to people he knew (and this got back to me) before then, but I haven't heard anything back since :p

So in summary, Nippy tins of salmon, those GT's (y)

quality. LOL

I do like the Coupe's, saw one racing a BMW M3 once - and the bloody thing left it!!!!!!! WHAT??!!!

in my area there are a few GT's, but not GT3's. They are all knackered.

I haven't (yet) had anybody want to try it on, think its because it looks like a Sporting. Most people think its only got the 1.2 16V power unit under the bonnet.

Only trouble with these cars it they become v.unstable at high speeds, bounce all over the road, and the handling isn't great neither.

My mate recently brought a Fiesta RS Turbo, and he's had a number of races. (Think its because it has an RS TURBO badge on the back).

He also recons that the GT is quicker than his car. To be honest, it feels quicker but they both are the same really.

I was thinking of putting a Coupe 'TURBO' badge on both sides of the doors. Giving it away slightly.

nah, don't do that. Keep it sleeper stylé. Nice car! Maybe change the side repeaters for clear ones..and thats it :)

You say it becomes unstable at high speed, you done any suspension mods to it? It doesnt look lowered. A good set of springs and dampers would sort the handling, then whack on a strut brace, some better brakes, and can you get uprated ARBs for puntos?

Anyhoo, welcome to the forum :D

Have attached an M3 VS 20VT article for you all to have a look at, interesting reading. My mate owned an M3 for a good 6 months and although it was neck and neck every time we had a "sprint" we both agreed mine felt faster. The turbocharged 5 cylinder felt faster as the power arrived about 3k and snapped ur neck back, as opposed to the 6 cylinder in the Beemer that was as fast yet felt slower owing the natural aspiration.
Since our little sprints, I have added I reckon about another 30brake to my coop, would be interesting to compare the two again now, I reckon I would have the upper hand.
My mate summed it up after I let him drive my coop shortly after chipping her, "That car is Sick!!!!" (y)

You have to be a member of that forum to see the link, Jamie.
can you post a link to the standard performance figures of the GT3? What's the main differences between a GT and the GT3, any mechanical differences or just cosmetic?

no mechnical differences really.

the icv is set up different, so is the compression ratio's. and the ecu has different maps.

visually the car has black wheels, coloured side-skirts, different side-strips, different wing mirrors, different seat cloth, oh and the badge on the back is slightly different.
