Some of my cars from the past

Actually from the past six years or so (and there have been others!). As you can see I've got a soft spot for the Citroen BX! Besides my Ulysse, I now have the black ZX Volcane which is fab.

That Visa GTi was a storming little car - it had a BX 1.9 8v GTi engine in it.

The silver 16v was very recently sold. Regret it already!

Anyway:

Re: Some of my cars from the past

This is the "non Fiat" members motors section guys

Anyway, I do have a soft spot for the older Citroens when they were on the wacky side of insane After that they just became reworked Peugeots and lost all the flair that Citroen were famous for.

As to the collection, the BX was definitely old school Citroen looking like a cross between an Airfix kit and a spaceship! It also had hydropneumatic suspension all round and in GTi spec was a rapid car. Wouldn't mind one myself, but only if the build quality was substantially better than my old AX GT...

And that Visa GTi with a 1.9 engine in it!!!!!! Jesus that thing must fly. I know the original (if I remember correctly) had the same 1.6 GTi engine that was fitted to the Pug 205 GTi yet the Visa is almost unknown whereas the Pug became a legend. Kind of strange because I'm sure the Visa also had excellent handling but just looked a little bit on the weird side. I suspect it may even have been quicker than the Pug GTi because I think it was smaller and lighter.

Plus the Citroen GS, now there's another old school Citroen. Kind of like a shrunken, slightly more sensible version of the DS. Air cooled flat four engine and hydropneumatic suspension, stainless steel bumpers and a bonkers dashboard! My mate had one years ago and loved it.

The last of the mad Citroens in my opinion was the XM. It was sort of a bigger and even more weird BX for eccentric executives. Plagued by electrical problems and build quality issues it signalled the end of old school Citroens. After that they just went mainstream and rather bland in comparison, with perhaps the exception of the higher spec Xantias (most of the lower models had conventional suspension). And as for the Paxo... Just a rebadged 106 that turned into the Chav car of choice for kiddies

Anyway, nice car history Busdriver!

Loving the GS and Visa :-) BXs are nice, but were the begining of the end for really querky Citroens :-(( Can't get on with the driving position on ZXs my feet always catch the bottom of the dash (Think it's a Peugeot thing).

yes, lots.

And I thought this section was for non-Fiat cars. And I have noticed one or two non-Fiats in this section

And as I also own a Fiat I figured it'd be OK.

I guess you're just jealous

some nice cars there, all looking in great condition (at the time)

OT-At end of day if we dont like this section of forum, then we dont have to visit it nor post in it, but we are all interested in what we all own non fiat, just to see what interesting and quirky cars we might own.

We will always agree to disagree in this section.

Although i suspect if it was a pic of something like an evo or integrale rather than citroen BX's the same reaction might not have been posted by a few members

And if you don't want to look at non-fiat cars then don't come into the Non-Fiat section

Re: Some of my cars from the past

Didn't (as a newbie) mean to cause trouble

To compensate, I'll post some more pics of my Ulysse (cor!) in various interesting locations, as the year progresses! (Oh, an a pic of my Uno Turbo ie if I can find one)...

Re: Some of my cars from the past

I like the Citroens they are interesting cars and it's my interest in cars which leads me to post on here about my Panda and Mercedes-Benz-Club about my W123. This is the non Fiat section and any pic of a Citroen GS (or indeed a Visa GTI) is welcomed by me.

As far as I know they are - with the exception of the GS - still on the road. The Visa went to an enthusiast in the Netherlands (and I've since seen a pic of it at a Cit car show in Utrecht). I used to live in France and the GS and Visa were bought there.

The sad thing about the GS (actually GSX - a sporty one lol!) was, the day I had finished the restoration (for the time being) I took it out and a teenager pulled out without looking and - write off. And she was driving.... a Fiat Uno.
