There's a bunch of mods I'm planning to fit on my marea, namely:

1. Replace standard headlights with poly ones (BTW, did you know there were mareas with other lights than polyeliptical ones?).

I got a pair of UK lights and am going to open them, dismantle the lens and simply flip the diaphragm, in order to achieve "continental" light pattern. This has been proven to work on my friend's car.

However, I have one question - I've noticed that poly headlights have a rectangular-ish hole in the upper flat surface of the high beam reflector. My heads do not have such hole. Seems like factory made - what is it for? Any ideas? Could anyone go and check if you have it, too?

2. Install fogs.

I bought a pair of fogs + "cups" + auxiliary wire loom + switch panel. I will cut out holes in the bumper according to an outline on the inner surface of the bumber and add a relay behind the glove box.

Unfortunately, the switch panel I have comes from a Bravo and the connectors are different. :( Did anyone make a custom switch? If yes - where did you place it?

3. Replace my AD182M (with custom AUX-in soldered to the mainboard) with AD182H + cable for AUX-in.

And my question is - will the cable work with H1?

Any comments and suggestions are welcome!

Cheers,

Tom

EDIT: And I forgot to mention - I am fitting a pair of gas springs to lift the bonnet. Bravo trunk lifters of exact size and power to lift the bonnet.

Yes as its only the top spec Marea's that come with Pollys! So you'll need to do some modifications to the wiring, make sure you have the polly sidelight connectors + wiring sniped from the other car!

But good luck with the mods, glad you have a plan laid out! (y)

2. Fog Lights

Gud Day, I have recently installed a set of Fog Light to my 100 Elx , the electrician just simply tap the fog light wires to my parking light wiring c/w a relay and a 30A fuse on the negative side. so everytime i switch my parking light on it also switch my fog lights on.

Hope this could be any help to you

Cheers,

Every time your sidelights go on your fogs come on?

Hope you dont live in the UK as this is illegal.

I know about changes to wiring, I've seen them on my friend's car. I don't have the wires as I bought the lamps over net. I have speaker wires with fitting plugs, though.

What about those holes in mirrors? Did anyone have a chance to bend down and see?

I'll make pics tomorrow and post for reference.

my high beams do not have a rectangular hole in the reflector, or any holes at all.

As promised, here come the pics...

The rectangular hole I ws talking about - any ideas what it is for?

that has been cut out so the light beam will not shine in people's eyes on the other side of the road. shine the lights against a wall and you will see an area that is not lit. it looks as thought it has been cut out by hand, the edge is slightly rough! how weird!

I will definitely shine it on the wall even if to see what it is for.

But the lamps seem to be factory sealed! :chin:

If it has some diverse impact I will simply put my current high-beam reflectors into these polys.

Why don't you just buy a set of continental lights? I replaced my RHD lights with LHD ones. Ebay has lots on offer, new and used....

The LHD headlamps were not expensive (€120 for the set), for DEPO lamps which seem to offer as good a light beam as the Fiat RHD ones, just with the correct orientation.....

And they did not need squares cutting out of them as RHD ones seem to.

Try ebay.de

Maybe I am just lazy though, but it did seem like a much simpler solution....

since i first read this post i've been checking every bravo, brava or marea i've seen, and i have seen several that have these bits cut out, but not all cars do. there seems to be no certain age or model that has them cut out. now i'm even more confused.

Just like myself

But as this occurs at random, seems like it does not make any difference in terms of light efficiency. Maybe these are vents (4 heat evacuation)?

One to go!
