Hi all,

I've been looking for a Marea Weekend for a while, I had a ride in a 1.8 ELX manual and it didn't enjoy it, it didn't feel right and for the 33,000 miles it had some faults and looked like excessive wear.

I have now found a 2001 100ELX Auto which is a very nice car, clean tidy, rides well and only done 22,000 miles with 1 owner, the interior is like new and the body has the odd stone chip and a car park door mark.

So, Is the Auto box OK, also what MPG does the Auto give under normal driving conditions, I'm not too worried about the MPG I just don’t want a shock.

I run a 1995 Mitsubishi Carisma 1.6 manual at the moment and get about 35 - 40 MPG but I want a bigger car without the expense.

At present the wife runs a Brava 1.4SX which I have recently replaced the cam (88,000) so I would appreciate reports on the 1.6 engine!

Also when I started the engine after I'd driven it for a while my wife ask if it was a diesel as the noise with the drivers door open and sitting in the driving seat sounded a bit like a diesel rattle, but I popped the bonnet and had a listen and it sounded fine .. the aircon was on the car was in Park .. maybe one of these conditions causes the noise which is normal?

Should I wait and try to find a diesel although this will be more money with higher miles and more wear .. so the savings on MPG are a bit false, I only do about 8-9000 a year.

Any info on the 100ELX Auto much appreciated.

Thanks

Jim
