hi
hope this is right place to post this , we soorry if it isnt
we got a 9yr old fiat punto , and we just got a prob with the rear lights , if we indicate to turn and put foot on brake the lights ethier all go out or tboth indicators cum on but dont flash , its worse if we have the lights on .... can anyone give us sum help/ advise weve had the car from new and this is first real prob weve had that i cant seem to solve

Wrongly inserted bulb, each bulb has a single or twin filiment, remove the cover and check the bulbs, indicator is single filiment and brakelight/side should is or should be twin.

Sort these out then test.

thanxs will try , but think bulbs are ok , problem was preceded by a side light going off untill we tapped on the caseing when it would come back on , will keep you posted
 
It might be a problem with the grounding. Check the contacts for anything loose or slightly rusty.
 
Agree with Gav, sounds like you got a bad earth, check that the earth wire is attached to body with no rust present, if rusty, clean area and connector with emery cloth, lightly grease and re-attach.
